Nicole's POV

I walked out of the meeting room accompanied by Lona. The company secretary had been with me all along, not moving even when I made a little noise by slamming Brown and making sure I was okay during the meeting.

I understood why Edwin had given her the responsibility of accompanying me during the meeting. She was competent despite having only been on the job for five years and remained calm in any situation, just like my adoptive father had taught me.

"Make sure the development of this company goes well, Lona," I said when the shareholders said goodbye to return to their respective places.

I managed to make small talk for a while, but those who had seen my unscrupulous behaviour toward Brown and the treasonous shareholders became more reluctant and respectful toward me.

They were looking forward to the still-bright future of the company that I would lead, but that was still a while away. Edwin was still the top leader, and I still had a lot to learn to be like him.t
