Chapter 70

Nicole's POV

We were currently riding a Ferris wheel that was very high in my estimation. I couldn't look out of the window and could only look at Richard, who seemed to be enjoying the ride while moving his feet happily and not taking his eyes off the Ferris wheel window since we entered.

His face brightened as he looked at me. "Mom-oh, what's wrong?" He looked a little worried.

"Mom's feeling a little scared, Richard." I gave up, feeling trembling in my body, and reached out to my son, who was sitting on the other side.

Richard formed a flat line with his lips but accepted my hand. I felt like he could tell how scared I was from how moist my hand felt in his grip. "Are you a child? I'm really scared."

I shook my head, denying my son's remark about me being like a child. "I've always been afraid of heights, but you like it here, don't you? I just need this kind of company to be less scared."
