I walked around the table and knelt down by her side. Jax was watching me very closely as he knew what was going on. She was trying not to shift into her dragon right here in this room.
“Mags? Is that you?” I asked quietly.
When Tora’s head slowly looked in my direction, I could see yellow and orangish flecks swirling in her eyes.
“Maggie. We haven’t had the chance to properly meet. I am Alida or Cheyenne, whatever you want to call me. I am the Queen Alpha for all the wolves and lycans species. I promise you, I mean no harm to Tora. She is my friend, as I hope you will be some day too.” I said as calm as I could with a soft smile on my face.
Maggie let out a huff and a little grey smoke came out of Tora’s little button nose. That’s when Jax put his hand on her shoulder causing her to turn towards him.
“Maggie, I am right here with her. I promised you that she wouldn’t be hurt remember?&rdq
*Jax's POV*Charlie and I started walking in the opposite direction of everyone else. There were a couple things I wanted to talk to him about that I really didn’t want anyone else hearing at the moment.“Tora and I have been talking about children, but I think we’re both worried about the outcome. We know the stronger gene will show but which of us is stronger than the other? Have you ever seen a lycan dragon hybrid before?” I asked as we walked around the woods.“Although I have not heard of nor seen, for that matter, a lycan dragon hybrid, surely you guys are not the first.” Charlie shrugged.“I’m sure in all of history that there has to be a hybrid somewhere, but Tora makes it sound like dragons hate or refuse to mate with anyone who isn’t a dragon. Something about keeping the bloodline pure, and trust me when I say, I am so sick of hearing that phrase!” I rolled my eyes thinking back to how lycans used to be and their views on keeping their bloodlines pure.“Maybe that’s why the
*Jax’s POV*The next day Tora continued her training while I was meeting with Alpha Nik and Alida. We had discussed about introducing Maggie to the rest of the pack and Alpha Nik agreed to it as long as Charlie and Dalaini were there along with Alida and Gunner. Just as a precaution which I completely understood. His pack came first and foremost above all else.Alida also told us that she had received some videos from Mathias last night after we all left the house. When she loaded them on Nik’s laptop and played them for us, I could feel my lycan stirring as rage rose inside of me.“I’m going to rip his head off!” I growled.“Jax calm down. We can’t give any clues that we are on to him. Are you going to be able to sit through the meeting tomorrow and keep calm?” Alida asked me.“Yes, sorry Alida. I’m good now.” I said exhaling slowly. As of right now we planned on charging him for his crimes as an alpha, and that was what the meeting tomorrow was going to be about. Alida wanted to sho
*Jax's POV*Gunner and I stood just inside the tree line so we wouldn’t be spotted. I wanted to run out and kill both of those men but Gunner held me back. He reminded me that Alida wouldn’t let any harm come to Tora but as her mate my lycan wanted to protect her. After watching the whole event unfold there were a few times we had to suppress our laughter. Koa always did like to toy around with her enemies before killing them. I almost forgot how cruel her since of humor could be.After the two guys left to take the message back to Tora’s father, the rest of us emerged from the woods. We came out of all directions. Koa was still out, along with Maggie.“Maggie!” I cried out running up to her in my lycan form.“Jax?” Maggie asked looking at me.“Yes. It’s me.” I answered calmly slowing down because I had completely forgotten that Maggie hadn’t seen me in my lycan form
*Tora’s POV*I couldn’t believe how well the soldiers were handling having a dragon on their territory. Once the nerves calmed down and the anxiety subsided, it was nothing but the feeling of butterflies in my stomach from all the happiness and excitement that surrounded me.“Maggie?” One soldier asked.“Yes?” She asked kindly.“This might sound weird but um…” He stopped and looked around at his fellow pack members. A few of them nodded and he looked back up at her, “Can you give us a ride?”“A ride?” Maggie asked confused.“Well you see, none of us can fly and some of us were wondering if, well, if you could give us a ride?” He asked again.Maggie and Koa exchanged looks while attempting to hold in their laughter but both failed horribly! Koa was rolling on the ground laughing so hard and Maggie actually snorted.“
*Cheyenne’s POV*Gunner and I were the first to show up at the same building we had met everyone before. Gunner held the door open for me while I walked in and flashed him a small smile. I saw the same short stout man from the first time we met here coming down the hall.“Good morning miss.” He said with a smile.“Good morning.” I smiled back with a slight nod of my head.“Your room is all set and ready for you per Alpha Nik’s request.” He informed me.“Thank you very much. I do apologize for such the short notice.” I said sincerely.“Not an issue miss. We don’t get very much business here.” He said waving his short arm around in the air.“Oh I’m sorry for that. I will surely pass on the word about this place.” I offered.“Thank you miss. Much appreciated!” He said with a wide grin. He gave a slight bow of his head and then continued on his way towards his office.“He such a nice fellow, for a human anyways.” I said softly to Gunner with a smirk.“Don’t go getting feelings for an old
*Cheyenne’s POV*I wasn’t exactly sure how to bring the subject up to Tyler that his mate was at our meeting, much less ask him why she would’ve been there, one that even he couldn’t be at. Do I just rip the Band-Aid off, so to speak, and just come right out and say it? Was there a way to even sugarcoat it to try to break it to him nicely? No, I couldn’t do that, because he would know then that something was up because that’s not me. It was only yesterday, and I didn’t get much sleep last night because of this. I knew Gunner could feel the turmoil going on inside of me through the mate bond and every time I tried to block it, he would tell me to let him back in.“That’s what a mate is for, to feel everything you feel and help you through it.” He kept saying. It was around 2:00 am when he finally pulled me into his body, letting the sparks erupt everywhere our skin made contact with each other. The feeling drove all other thoughts out of my head and allowed me to drift off to sleep fin
“Dad, I think I know what you’re talking about already. It’s the only thing that makes sense as to being short on the phone and pulling me away just now. What do you know about her?” I asked while picking at my own fingers.Gunner, having seen my nervous tick, reached over and grabbed my hands while giving me a calm wave of energy through our bond. I gave a small nod and a thank you smile to my mate and then returned my attention back to my dad.“I know she’s the daughter of the leader of the HOA. I know Tyler claims her as his fated mate. I know she says she has nothing to do with the HOA. I know she said her father is deathly sick, BUT…” my dad paused before continuing, “I also know that’s a lie!” my dad stopped talking and continued staring at the ceiling.“Wait, what do you mean? How do you know that’s a lie?” I asked in a hurry.“Your mom saw her father lurking around the borders the other day, and since your mom takes that witchy potion in front of me religiously, I know she’s t
*Cheyenne's POV*“Ok, first things first. We have no idea what the hunters are planning, much less when they’ll attack. Same for the dragons. Teagan said it’s been radio silent for a while. BUT what we do know is there is a party for me and Maggie on Friday. Also, when’s the last time anyone has seen Ben or Chelsea? Let’s go check on them and make sure Chelsea hasn’t killed him yet. Besides, Alida needs some baby time to help her chillax.” Tora suggested while smacking my ass when she walked by me to head towards the vehicles.“Hey! That’s my ass!” Gunner whined.“Oh come on! That’s my sister!” Ty moaned.“Tora…” I called out to get her attention. When she looked back at me, I slightly nodded towards the truck. Gunner always leaves the keys in it, so that wasn’t an issue. As soon as she turned, I bolted for the driver’s seat. There was that split second of shock on Gunner’s face before he realized what was going on.I jumped in the truck with Tora jumping in the other side and we quic
