CHAPTER 13

I was relieved to be alone when he left after eating his breakfast. There would be no more scowls and glares. Without him, the house was quiet, and I was reminded of my home, my parents, and everyone else in the pack, especially my friends. I have been missing them but I couldn’t go back until my father would take me back home. Inwardly, I wished that Dale would come back home as soon as possible because he was easier to deal with than Jacob Summers.

I was so preoccupied with my thoughts that I didn’t notice time flew too past. Blue skies turned into the hues of orange and red when I looked out the window. Then, I smiled while imagining myself with a lover watching the sunset. When I turned around, I gasped in surprise upon seeing Jacob standing nearby.

“Take this,” he said as he handed a paper bag.
