The car entered the parking lot of a fancy restaurant. I understood why she did that. She didn't want anyone to overhear our conversation. The restaurant was deserted by closing time. But the waitress let us use their dining room.

I ordered a soft drink even though my stomach was full. The woman ordered a drink and a snack. As a thank you, she also ordered a main course still available for takeaway.

The waitress thanked us and then left after taking down our orders. I put my hand on the table, waiting for her to tell me the purpose of our meeting. Nicole sat not far from us, ready to help in my time of need.

“How are you, Camari?” asked Eleanor kindly.

“Can we get to the point and skip the pleasantries?” I requested. “I'm exhausted and need to rest. I have to work tomorrow morning.”
