Chapter Twenty-Two - The Auction

We went to the room next to the hall and there were several tables and chairs that were soon occupied by the various guests. Adam, Geneva and I clearly sat at the same table, they looked like they didn't want to eat each other alive and I was relieved for that and to be able to enjoy the moment with both of them. On the table there was a pitcher of water, glasses for us to drink the water from, and three little plaques with the numbers 13, 14 and 15 that were there to be used for us to place the bids, I clearly would not participate in any bids as I imagine Geneva would too.

A man took the stage with a microphone in hand, he introduced himself and then the first object was offered. It was a huge handmade Turkish rug, the guy with the microphone gave his price and then little signs started to be raised all the time, everyone wanted that rug which was very beautiful, that's not to argue. But in the end it was sold to a gentleman for fifteen thousand dollars. Adam hadn't bid.
