Forty Nine

Whatever tension that had been in the dining room got doubled by Kristen's ringing phone. Her stepfather and half-sister were ready to see if she would take the call And also to know if the caller is a boy, which would not be good news if it was so.

Kristen stared at the phone as she contemplated on whether to pick it up or not but following the curiosity on everybody's face, she decided to pick it up right there.

"Hi honey pie"

She greeted, cheerfully. Cherry and Mr. King exchanged glances, a big smile appeared on Mrs. King's face. She was bubbling with excitement.

"Don't you worry, if the need arises? I will not forget. Hope you are good?"

Kristen continued to communicate with whoever that is on the other side of the phone, not minding the glares she was receiving from the two people sitting opposite her.

"Sure, darling. Don't miss me too much"

And with that, she ended the call.

" Tell us Kristen, who is that?"

Cherry pried dryly.
