“That was some flight there.” Francisco acknowledged.“Welcome back.” Victor greeted as both men shook hands.“It doesn’t feel like I left at all.” Francisco responded.A number of guys began loading Francisco’s luggage into an SUV while Francisco joined Victor to his own vehicle.“Aren't you going to blindfold me?” Francisco asked Victor who had gotten into the seat beside him before the vehicle took off.“I wouldn’t mind.” Victor replied. “The only thing stopping me is I see you as one of us, so there’s no need.”“Trust.” Francisco grinned. “You know, its good to see people who live by their principles.”Victor smiled briefly.Francisco looked out the window and there was disappointed written on his face. Although there were a good number of new buildings as well as skyscrapers, he felt the place was unchanged as compared to how it was the last time he was around. Of course Victor noticed the expression on his face.“It looks different from the last time you were here.” Victor said.
Victor offered to take Francisco home while Martelli had a meeting to attend somewhere around the city. Alexander opted to stay back a little to finish up some paper work he was attending to before Victor arrived with Francisco. Martelli thought it was strange as Alexander was one who hated any form of self isolation. He followed Victor and Francisco out but returned a few moments later to Alexander’s office. At a glance, Martelli knew something was wrong with Alexander. He had been acting strange for some days and it never crossed Martelli’s mind to question him in order to find out what was wrong and if possible, fix it.Immediately Alexander saw Martelli’s face he knew what he came for. It was something he had done a lot previously and so Alexander could tell when he was about to be a detective. He was divided on what to do. Should he tell Martelli what was wrong? And if he did, how would he react or what action would he take? Also, if he does not open up and Martelli finds out lat
Life couldn’t be more difficult and cruel to Kristine. In a short time she had lost everyone she could call a friend. She already lost count of the missed calls she gave Camille. As for Alexander, he made it clear he never wanted to see her again. Rejected and pregnant, if she had the power, she would command the ground to open and swallow her so she could be out of her misery. The doorbell rang and Kristine went to answer. She opened the door to see a delivery man standing with a package.“Package for Kristine Richards.” The delivery guy said.“I am Kristine Richards.” Kristine replied. The delivery guy gave her a booklet to sign before he handed the package to her.“Thank you.” She said politely as she received the package from him.Once the delivery guy left, Kristine inspected the package and thought it felt weird adding to the fact she wasn’t expecting anything from anyone.Kristine took the package in and shut the door behind her.She sat on a couch and unwrapped the package whi
The reception was quite packed when Camille came in. There was a number of people waiting to be attended to when one of the receptionists signaled to Camille to come over.“Hello ma'am, how may I help you?” A receptionist greeted.Camille responded that she needed an audience with Alexander.“Are you scheduled to have a meeting today?” The receptionist asked.“No, but its urgent please” Camille asked.“I’m sorry ma’am but he said not to allow anyone –““Damn it!” She said between her teeth, her voice was quite low so that only the receptionist attending to her heard her and her face showed a very great deal of seriousness “I have to see Alexander right now. Make it happen right now… I don’t have all day.” This time she was authoritative. The receptionist was stunned by Camille’s sudden switch and hurriedly made a call, while making eye contact with the security who approached their position slowly. Alexander had asked not to be disturbed except it was an appointment. It was how he ope
Kristine was taking her fifth tour round the house. The place seemed bigger with each tour, quite unusual such that she began to doubt her own sanity. She had a lot on her mind and she was trying out some distraction mechanisms. She tried seeing a movie but got bored, tried reading a book but couldn’t get the words past her eyes, the laundry was a no go area as she was put off by just the sight of the clothes. Nothing seemed to click for her and so she settled for touring her home.Thoughts of Alexander weighed her down. ‘Maybe if I had taken Camille’s advice and reported myself before the hit, things would have been different' she thought. Now the person she cherished didn’t want anything to do with her.Another thought came to Kristine’s mind, telling Alexander about the pregnancy. But there were doubts as well. She imagined how he would react since she wasted time in letting him in on it. That could be another problem and she was definitely not ready for more.‘A step at a time' sh
“How long have you known about it?” Alexander broke the silence. Then he paused and thought it over how he could trust the pregnancy was his considering the fact Kristine had been playing a double agent in his affairs, there might just be a loophole in this one too. “And how am I to believe its mine?” He added. His expression gave away nothing about the excitement and anger brewing within him. Both Martelli and Victor buried their heads in their hands on hearing his last question. And as for Camille, she had disgust written all over, she looked like she would puke any moment.“I never knew my brother to be this trashy.” She said in disgust.“My sister would not put my life on the line either… no matter what the plan entails.” Alexander said, a few tear drops rolled down his cheek.Camille was broken at the sight of Alexander, her lips moved but no words came out.“So answer me, how am I to believe that someone who’s been double-dealing, is carrying my own child?” he requested.“It’s yo
“The marriage between your parents, was more like a business deal.” Alexander started. “The Trapani family were on top for a long time and after maintaining their position during a very bloody timeframe, they were running short of soldiers. Caruso on the other hand had what the Trapani lacked, but could never have a shot at their position and although they chose to distance themselves from the conflict, they could not refuse the juicy offer when it came; a large portion of the cake.Caruso was asked to join forces with the Trapani and when all was done, they would get a twenty five percent from all dealings. Considering how deals go sour, they opted for a better assurance and for that reason the marriage was proposed.Elena Caruso was offered to Luca Trapani for wife, a union that saw two children born, with only one of them belonging to Luca.Prior to the arrangement, both Luca and Elena were involved in different relationships. Their forced marriage was supposed to put that chapter
“Christ! You guys almost gave me a heart attack” Alexander said as he got into his study.Camille and Victor had returned much earlier and were waiting for him.“How did your talk go?” Camille asked“I can’t say, I told him what he needed to know, hopefully he does not go out of control.”“So he knows about her” Camille said.“Yes.” Alexander replied “and them too.”“Them?” a confused looking Camille asked “Who is them?”“Probably Octavio’s group.” Victor said, then dropped Kristine’s mobile at the edge of the study table where he was seated and motioned to Alexander to pick it up.“What is that for?” Alexander asked.“It belongs to Kristine.” Victor replied.“I know it belongs to her,” Alexander said “but what do I need it for?” he asked.“There is a recording you would want to listen to.” Camille said.Alexander looked at both Camille and Victor suspiciously. “Just a recording? “ he asked.“Yeah. Just a recording.” Victor replied. “I must say… she turns out to be smarter than I thou
