Chp 17 Pt 2 Twins Reunited

I sit up and feel my heart racing. I am dripping in sweat and my body is shaking uncontrollably. I feel someone squeezing my body. When I look at who it is I burst into tears.

“Malayah?”

“It’s me, it’s me.” I squeeze her back, both of us crying. It’s been so long and I can’t remember the last time we embraced. I release her and begin checking her over.

“Are you okay?” My eyes land on the necklace and I freeze. “Why are you still wearing that?”

“I can’t get it off. I’ve tried. You need to get out of here before they use me to hurt you.”

“Why haven’t you used any of your powers?”

“I can’t. I don’t know what they did but I can’t use them. They also killed Leila.”

“I’m so sorry Malayah. Mom and dad are coming. Everything will be alright.”

“I don’t believe that anymore.” She looks so tired and skinny. I can tell she hasn’t been eating or sleeping properly.

“Get some sleep Malayah. I will watch over you. I will try and reach mom and dad.”

Tears sting her eyes as she nods her head
