Act 40: Returning

It’s been about four days, and they haven’t heard a thing from the men at all. Amaranthe told her not to worry since this was normal, but Devyn couldn’t help it. She’s been separated from Kieran long enough, and these past few days have been nothing but torture. Breathing out a sigh, she kicks off the blankets and lays a hand on her swollen belly. Things will be different now. She can no longer be selfish and has to think about two little souls who will depend on her. But as she thinks back to her childhood, she wonders if she has what it takes to be a good mother. She falls asleep with the feeling that things will be different when Kieran returns.

A warm hand slipping underneath her silk camisole wakes her, coupled with the stubbled kisses in the nape of her neck. She knew these kisses, and she recognised this touch and the way he breathed her name in reverence.

Kieran has returned, and he is starved.
