It was another hour before Kade got back. He opened the door and pulled me into his arms, burying his face in my neck. I did not even need the bond to feel the anger radiating off him.

“Tell me what happened,” he said.

I explained everything to him. What she said, what she did, and how I responded. He listened quietly without interrupting until I was done.

He stepped away from me and started pacing. I almost chuckled because it was something we both had in common, but the seriousness of the situation wiped away any trace of amusement. If I thought he was angry before then I was sorely mistaken in comparison to now.

“That bitch’s name is Abigail. She was the girlfriend I had in high school. I swear to you that I never looked at her, touched her, or talked to her intimately afterwards. For her to come up here and act like that …”

I stood in front of him and placed my hand on his chest. He was angry but also felt guilty. This was not on him at all. This was a crazy bitch’s delusion
