SLADE POV

ON THE SAME DAY,

I was interrupted by a persistent knocking on my door.

"What?!" I snapped back, irritated. It continued for another minute until I stood up from my swivel seat to answer it.

Opening it, I scowled. "You better have a damn good reason for disturbing me right now!"

"I-It...!" Declan wheezed, clutching his chest.

"Where's Alex? I asked, peering behind him. "I asked both of you to report to me," I demanded. "And why are you breathing as if you've just been chased?"

"Alex... He's been captured!" Declan choked out. "I tried to fight them off, but there were too many of them!"

"Who are they? What the hell are you talking about?!" I asked, frustration bubbling up inside me.

"Before we got to the Moon Howler pack, we were attacked. Alex and I did our best to protect Lady Britney, but they were too strong." Declan explained, his words becoming clearer.
