ZANE’S POV

When Lilian began chanting a spell that I am very sure was meant to revive Maggie, more blood began to ooze from Maggie’s nose, and she began to cough out blood.

Even though we weren’t supposed to be glad about Maggie coughing out blood, we were because this signified that Maggie was still breathing.

And in a case where there is still breath in someone's nostrils, there is hope.

Maeve and Charlotte rushed to Maggie’s side and held her hands. All I could see was that they were devastated by how everything turned out.

Alpha Kelvin on the other hand kept on pacing back and forth in the hospital room.

“You've got to calm down Alpha Kelvin, or else you might get a panic attack,” Billy advised but in response, Alpha Kelvin turned to me.

“While all of us were shocked when we found out that the magic had a price, you didn't look surprised at all. You knew, but you didn't tell us. You should have fucking told us and we would have looked for an alternative. But no, what do you care?
