Thousands of lights seemed to pierce Rain's tightly closed eyelids. There was a high shrill sound like a child wailing in fear in the distance. Rain felt nauseous and then opened her eyes very slowly.

"My head hurts!" Rain groaned.

Her bare back and arms felt like they were stabbed by something sharp and cold. Rain moved her hand. Her palms felt like she was lying on the wet and cold grass. Rain looked up and stared at the sky that stretched black and dense.

"There are no stars. No moon. The sky was really dark. Where am I now?"

Someone walked over and knelt beside Rain's head. The girl looked up with difficulty. She saw the figure of Jace Dauntess, still wearing a hoodie to cover his ugly face, apparently kneeling there.

Rain was ready to say the words, but Jace put his index finger to her lips. "Shut up and don't make a sound!"

Rain nodded weakly.

Not far from where Rain was lying on her back, she could hear a shrill voice splitting her ears. Rain turned her head to the side
