Meanwhile, Devlin is at the bar, getting himself wasted again. He had a heated argument with his dad when they went out of the library. His dad was accusing him of bringing Amber into his game to get as much money from his late grandmother.

“How could you do this, Devlin?! You have gone too far?” His dad was shouting. Good thing they are in the lounge area and no one could hear them from the outside. Amber is still in the library with the lawyer.

“I did not do anything. Blame it on grandma who changed her mind at the last minute.” He does not know why he has to explain to his dad. And he does not want to appear rude. But he has enough of his dad’s insulting words against him. For years, he had to endure everything from constant comparison to his achiever brother to getting the wrath of his father for his failures in school.

“I know you don’t care about this family but you should have respected the memory of your grandmother. She would be utterly devastated knowing what you did.” C
