Chapter 11 - Imprisonment

Remembering that time, made Charlotte very sorry for her actions. Hier razor-sharp words haunted her to this day. Even though her future husband has already proven his love for her so great, but because of his selfishness, their love affair has been shattered into pieces. Now her eyeballs are very red and her nose is blocked from sobbing. Staring at Charlotte's unstable emotional state now, the head of the investigation team spontaneously got a tissue box for her.

“Wipe your tears first,” the team leader suggested quietly, showing a hint of empathy.

Charlotte didn't care at all, she quickly took some tissue sheets, started wiping the teardrops on each side of her face, until the powder faded a bit. Luckily the head of the investigative team felt a little sorry for him, so he waited patiently for Charlotte so he could continue his interrogation again.

Moments later, Charlotte's emotions began to stabilize but she used up so many sheets of tissue that the interrogation table was filled with tissue balls. If you think about it, it's like a trash can. The head of the investigative team could only breathe in resignation as he picked up a bunch of tissue balls and threw them in the trash near the door of the room. After that, the head of the investigative team sat down opposite each other, putting on a serious face.

“Can we continue the interrogation now? Are you feeling much better now?”

Charlotte nodded slowly, finally feeling her head lightly lifted with confidence.

“Please continue the interrogation.”

“So after I heard your story just now, it can be concluded that you hated him for a while because of that little misunderstanding. Then, you carelessly throw it without thinking, even though you don't mean to eliminate it, "said the team leader at length to emphasize it again.

“Small misunderstanding caused a big fight.”

"You can say that."

“But that doesn't mean, you accuse me of being a suspect, right? Now, what did you do to me after hearing my story firsthand just now? Do you want to prostrate before me and apologize?” Charlotte pretended to be arrogant and folded her arms in front of her chest, giving her a smart smile.

“According to previous orders, I will detain you here first.”

"Why? Didn't the story just now make it clear that I wasn't the culprit?” Charlotte's eyes went wide and raised her voice an octave.

"I will lock you up for 48 hours until further notice from superiors."

“How dare you treat the Prince's fiancé so rudely!” Charlotte dodged and pounded her desk violently.

But the head of the investigative team didn't care at all. He ordered two of his men to escort Charlotte to the royal temporary cell by force.

"Let go of me!" shrieked Charlotte trying to rebel.

“Sorry, Lady Charlotte. You still have to follow legal procedures.”

“What an annoying law! Even though I'm not guilty at all! You'll see the truth later, I'm sure all of you will be afraid of me after knowing the real truth," Charlotte said at length aloud while being dragged forcibly until her hair was messy.

In the cell, Charlotte could only sit pensively, leaning limply against the wall and praying that someone would come to her now.

On the other hand, a handsome young man who was King Arthur's most trusted person, came up to him and bowed his head respectfully.

“Your Majesty, there is something important you should know.”

"What's really going on?"

"Lady Charlotte was suddenly accused of being the mastermind behind the plane crash that befell the Prince."

"What?"

Hearing the young man's exclamation, Queen Evelyn overheard it when she had just entered the royal throne room, so her body was a little limp now. Seeing the Queen's reaction, King Arthur swiftly approached her and led her to a chair.

“My queen, are you all right?” asked King Arthur very anxiously.

“Actually what happened? Why is Miss Charlotte a suspect when she has always been kind? Then what is the meaning of the mastermind behind the plane crash? So, wasn't the accident a pure accident?" Queen Evelyn was confused by the current complicated situation to the point of asking many questions.

“I am also not sure about the current matter, Her Majesty. What is certain is that I heard it directly from the National Intelligence Agency.”

"Then where is Lady Charlotte now?" asked King Arthur.

"Lady Charlotte is being locked up in a temporary royal cell for 48 hours by the National Intelligence Service, the security is very tight there."

"It's a pity the royal woman candidate. Lately she's been tested for a lot of serious problems, plus now she's been falsely accused. Miss Charlotte couldn't possibly harm her future husband," said Queen Evelyn still in disbelief, showing a face of pity.

“I agree with you, my queen. Since long ago, it was only Lady Charlotte that we trusted the most during this time. Even more trust in him than Prime Minister Agnes," added King Arthur.

“So, what should we do now, Your Majesty?”

"We can't visit her in person. It will be thought that we are cooperating with the perpetrators, we have to find other ways.”

Back again to Charlotte who was still sitting alone in a temporary cell, without the best service from members of the National Intelligence Service. This entire area was heavily guarded by many bodyguards, so there was no way Charlotte thought she could escape from here.

Before long, Violet's figure appeared here in a panic. A faint smile began to appear on Charlotte's face, because at a time like this there were still people willing to visit her. It felt like welcoming her best friend warmly, but was blocked by iron bars.

"Charlotte," Violet said.

“Violet, I didn't expect you to visit me. But how did you get in here? Isn't it okay for just anyone to enter this area?"

“Did you forget? I'm good at seducing, of course I sell my pride to go to my best friend."

“By the way, why did you come to me all of a sudden?”

"I'm afraid something bad will happen to you. What's more, you're being cruelly accused when you're in a bad mood.”

"Relax, Violet. I can definitely deal with it, I think that right now I'm being given a life test by God," said Charlotte, still looking relaxed.

“But I believe that you can't possibly do that to Gabriel. Your patient attitude makes it impossible to have cruel thoughts.”

“Violet…”

“Trust me, Charlotte. I'm sure you'll be released soon or you'll have to wait 48 hours at the most.”

"But if I can't be free, what then?"

"Anyway, later I will prepare a lot of cookies for you so that your mind can calm down by enjoying sweet food."

“Ah, you could just say that!” Charlotte chuckled as she shook her head.

“For sure I will find a way to prove your innocence! I really can't bear to see my friend always being destroyed."

"I'm happy and grateful to have a loyal friend like you, Violet," Charlotte said with a twinkle in her eye, wanting to reach Violet's head and gently stroke it.

Charlotte who was locked up in a temporary cell, while tears kept rolling down Violet's eyelids, as if she had been mistreated. Seeing her friend's current behavior, Charlotte felt sorry for her because she caused her friend to always be sad because of the sadness she was experiencing.

"Don't cry anymore, Violet. Crying will never change the situation," Charlotte coaxed wearily.

"But I can't bear to see you fall apart. Whereas I, as your friend, can't do much!” Violet cursed herself while scratching her head in annoyance.

“Violet, although you didn't help me much, that doesn't mean you blame yourself. You've always comforted me when I was having problems, I'm very grateful to you," Charlotte advised her gently.

"Is that true?"

“Now I'm not asking you anything difficult. I simply ask you to pray for me to be free from this place, on condition that your prayers are sincere.”

“Aish, I definitely pray for you! Even since you were forcibly dragged here, I've been praying for your safety and nothing more complicated happened." Her crying stopped, Violet wiped her tears with a handkerchief.

"Then you'd better get out of here. You'll be suspected of conspiring with me if you visit me for too long," suggested Charlotte.

“But—”

“Never mind, you'd better just follow my orders.”

Violet breathed resignedly, finally deciding to comply with her best friend's wishes while rolling her eyes lazily.

"Alright, then I'll go now. Take good care of yourself, Charlotte."

When Violet stepped out of this area, Charlotte again reflected on herself as she studied the proposal ring on her ring finger. Throughout the day, Charlotte was given only a small amount of food, which made her body a little weak.

Night had come, even though she could not fall asleep because the temporary cell did not provide a soft mattress for her to sleep comfortably. She was forced to sleep in a sitting position leaning against the wall.

“There is an intruder! Hurry and catch him!” shrieked one of the officers manning here suddenly in the midst of the silence.
