The following day, Axel was already up and about, having already taken his shower, eaten his breakfast, and donned his office attire for the day. He looked at his wife, still asleep beneath the covers.
When he was ready to go, he was debating whether to wake up his wife or not. Is she okay? She has been crying the whole night.
He went to bed and touched her arms lightly. "Hon, I'm going to my office," he said softly.
Sherry stirred in her sleep and opened her eyes. "W...what?" she asked in a sleepy voice.
"I'm going to my office," Axel repeated. "Instruct the maid to transfer my clothes and stuff into the guest room. And don't forget to eat breakfast; you look awful."
"I don't want to eat breakfast. I want to die!" She murmured and closed her eyes again.
Axel sighed, shaking his head. It's the first time that he has seen his wife look so down and beaten. She's clearly in a state of depression and ironically, he was the one responsible for her current situation. He felt a prick of conscience poking into his heart.
He glanced at the window.
Before Meghan came back to his life, he was getting used to Sherry's presence in his life. He was used to having a wife. He was on the verge of falling in love with his wife until one day he received a call from Meghan and before he knew it, they rekindled their love affair and it was the best thing he felt since his wedding with his wife.
If Meghan hadn't called him again to rekindle their romance, he and Sherry wouldn't have this kind of problem right now.
Just that life has a very bad habit of giving life-altering surprises to everyone. And right now, he's the recipient of one and it's not funny at all. He created a big mess and two women are now competing for his attention. He never knew that a situation like this could be this hard.
When he was still single, he could play around with women and not worry about a damn thing. But things were different when he got married. And things become more complicated when Meghan resurfaces in his life.
He can't keep up with two women at the same time. He has to give up one and that will be his wife.
He and Meghan are going to have a child soon. He knew where his priority lies. Sherry is still young; she can always find another man to cherish her. But Meghan is already pregnant with his child; he can't abandon her. Meghan is his true love, and marrying his true love is a dream come true for him.
"Hon, don't forget to eat breakfast," he said, walking towards the door.
Sherry's eyes opened wide. "Buy me a box of my favorite chocolate when you come home tonight," she requested, closing her eyes and going back to sleep.
"Buy the chocolate yourself, 'coz I will be home late tonight. Don't wait for me," he said, exiting the room.
Axel descended the stairs and went straight to the kitchen. "Bring my wife a breakfast in bed," he told the cook.
"Yes, sir!" the cook replied, grabbing the wooden tray nearby and filling it with delicious dishes.
Axel left the kitchen, walking to the front door.
Before he exited the house, he glanced at the staircase, sighing heavily. The pain he brought into Sherry's life is too much for her to bear and he does feel guilty about it, but he is confident that she will recover quickly from her depression and that she will embrace the divorce with open arms.
The sooner the divorce proceedings start, the better it will be for the three of them so that they can finally move on with their lives.
He grabbed the door and exited.
The maid left the kitchen and climbed the staircase, carrying the food tray in her hands.
When she reached the top of the staircase, she went straight to the master's bedroom and said, "Ma'am, breakfast in bed. I brought your breakfast in a tray," she said in a loud voice.
Sherry opened the door and saw the delicious dishes on the tray. She raised a brow because she didn't request breakfast in bed. "Who told you to bring me food here in my room?" she asked.
"Sir Axel went to the kitchen and instructed the cook to bring you food," Mae replied.
"Ah, okay. Just put the tray on the table," Sherry said, going to the drawer to get her wallet.
Mae put the tray on the table, arranged the dishes, and placed the tray in the vacant chair. "Maam, breakfast is ready."
"Thank you, Mae," Sherry said, handing some bills to the maid. "Go to the store and buy salted caramel and green mango ice cream. Also include one box of my favorite chocolate, then keep the change." She turned around and walked to the table, ready to eat her breakfast.
"Thank you for the tip, Ma'am. Enjoy your breakfast." Mae said with a smile and walked towards the door, exiting the room quietly.
Sherry eased into the chair and stared at the delicious food on the table. Every weekend she would prepare something like this—breakfast in bed with her husband—and he would oblige without any problem.
Now, she will eat alone. So sad!
She will remain this way for the rest of her life, lonely and alone because her husband left her for another woman.
Life sucks!
"Not really; the fight hasn't started yet! I haven't signed the divorce paper yet!" she murmured to herself.
'But his mistress is already pregnant. You've already lost the fight!' Her inner voice corrected her.
"Shut up!" she said loudly, dismissing her inner voice.
She picked up the fork and spoon and began eating. In fairness, the dishes that the cook prepared today were her favorites: waffles, sunny side up eggs, potato salad, and crispy chicken nuggets. She managed to eat a lot despite her problem.
After she finished eating her breakfast, she put back the utensils in the tray, wondering what to do next.
She missed eating ice cream and chocolates; they are her comfort foods and she always feels better after consuming large amounts of those sweet treats.
She went to the bathroom and took a long shower, hoping the water could flush the frightening issue of the divorce into the drain and make her world better again.
Half an hour later, Mae returns to the master bedroom with the shopping bag. She removed the box of chocolate and put it on the table, then put the ice cream tubs in the mini fridge near the bathroom. She knocked on the door. "Ma'am, the chocolate is on the table and the ice cream is in the fridge."
"OK, thanks!" Sherry replied behind the bathroom door.
Mae did some quick tidying on the bed, picked up the wooden tray and then left the room.
Sherry emerged from the bathroom door a few moments later, wearing a white cotton short and blouse. She went to the table, grabbed the box of almond chocolates and went to the couch to watch movies all day long.
She turned on the TV and chose a fantasy film to start binge-watching all day long. Unfortunately, halfway through the film, she loses interest and finds herself thinking about the divorce.
The divorce is like an invincible hammer hanging at the top of her head, waiting to bludgeon her to death. It's frightening to think about it.
She turned off the TV and stared at the wall while eating her favorite chocolate.
To prevent herself from going crazy and to cope with her depression better, she already had several plans in her mind last night before she went to sleep. She will go shopping and buy everything she wants, go on a week-long vacation in their family resthouse, go on a one-week cruise, travel the world, go clubbing, and so on.
There is no shortage of things she can do.
She has lots of money to burn; she will continue living extravagantly while at the same time delaying the divorce proceedings as long as she can. She will be hitting two birds with one stone, and maybe along the way, she can find a way to prevent the divorce from happening!
She will try to appear fine in front of everyone, despite the fact that she is already dying inside. She will wake up every day, put on a brave face and carry on with her life as Axel's wife.
She reviewed her list in her mind.
At the top of her to-do list is getting to know Meghan, her husband's mistress.
She will meet her soon!
While munching on the chocolate, fresh tears sprang from her eyes. She began sobbing hard. Tears rolled on her face but she still continued eating her favorite chocolate. However, this time she didn't feel any better; she felt even more depressed.
She put the chocolate on the center table and got the ice cream from the fridge. She didn't bother using the ice cream bowl; she devoured the ice cream straight from the tub.
After half an hour of eating ice cream and thinking of her depressing situation, her mood didn't improve at all. Instead, she felt worse as the minutes passed by.
She felt sad—sadder than hell.
*Prime Green Business Headquarters*During lunch break, Axel left the 30-story Prime Green building, their family-owned business headquarters, to meet his best friend in the restaurant, two blocks from his location. Instead of using his car, he walked and reached the restaurant in minutes. He found his friend, Jason, sitting on the table in the corner, far away from the rest of the patrons of the restaurant.Jason waved at him and said, "Let's go upstairs, I have a reservation there.""OK." Axel followed his friend to the second floor. The cheerful waiter accompanied them to their private room. They settled on the couch, facing each other.Jason studied his friend's face closely. "How are you today, bro?" he asked.Axel sighed deeply. "Worse than yesterday, bro.""Why is that?" Jason raised a brow. "Let me guess, your wife didn't want to sign the divorce paper, am I right?"Axel nodded his head in confirmation. "You are right. She told me that I had to kill her first. She will never s
The following day, Sherry was still sleeping when Axel entered the master's bedroom to check on her. He was deeply bothered that his wife was looking miserable last night and he has to see her this morning to see if she is okay.He went to the bed and observed Sherry's breathing. Thanks to God, it's normal and although her long, messy hair was plastered all over her face, she looks fine.He no longer tried waking her up; instead, he grabbed the blanket and draped it over his wife's body. "I'm going to work. Take care of yourself," he said softly. He walked to the door and exited the room.Sherry, who was already awake during those times, opened her eyes and looked at the door. Fresh tears trickled from her eyes. She's tired of crying, so she got up from bed and went to the bathroom to start her day. When she finished in the bathroom, she went to the closet and donned a cotton top and shorts. There was a soft knock on the door."Ma'am, breakfast is ready. Should I bring food here?" Mae
The next day, Axel arrived home at 5:00 in the morning and went straight to the guest room. The sun isn't yet on the horizon but Sherry was already awake and heard the footsteps in the hallway. She knew it was her husband coming home early in the morning and he was spending the whole night with his mistress. She bit her lower lip as she felt the stab of pain piercing through her heart. Tears swarmed her eyes. She went to the bathroom and splashed water on her face.Today she will cry no more! She went back to bed and tried to go back to sleep again. But no matter how hard she tried, she could no longer go back to sleep. She grabbed her tablet from the side table and began browsing the net, looking for something interesting to occupy her mind. She watched a two-hour film about family drama, romance, and betrayal. The sun was already up in the sky and she had a sudden need to drink coffee. She got up from the bed, went to the table and made herself a cup of espresso coffee using the cof
Sherry arrived at the MGM Agency and was able to talk to one of the agents after five minutes of waiting."What can our agency do for you, Madam?" A clean-shaven guy in his 40s asked Sherry inside a room."Um, I want to know the address of my husband's mistress. Her name is Meghan but I don't know her family name or her address," Sherry explained."No problem, Madam. As long as we know your husband's name and where he is working right now, and you can provide us with his photo, we can follow him 24/7 and locate the address of his mistress. You just gave us all the correct information, and we will give you the best result in the soonest possible time," the guy said."OK. Can you guarantee me that it will be discreet and that my husband will never know that you are following him?" Sherry asked apprehensively."Yes, Madam. That's what we do best; we have been in this business for 50 years, helping people find answers to their questions in a discreet way. We value your trust, Madam. Rest
He cleared his throat. "Let's behave the normal way, just like before. Let's talk about divorce after the wedding anniversary. Tell the maid to put my clothes and stuff back here," he ordered, and he left the room.Sherry sobbed silently. She felt sad that her husband still wanted to continue with the divorce. She was actually hoping that he would abort the issue that caused her so much pain but she was wrong. He still wants to be with Meghan in the end.So be it!She left the room and went to the guest room to get her husband's things and put them back in the master's bedroom. When she arrived there, Mae was already placing Axel's things on the bed."Ma'am, Sir Axel instructed me to put his things back in the master's bedroom," Mae said, folding the clothes."No problem. I'll help you," Sherry said."No need, ma'am, I can do it," Mae said, putting the toiletries in the plastic basket."Um, Mae, regarding the divorce, you are the only one who knows about it. Until now, I haven't signe
The next day, Sherry's body was aching, especially her crotch area. Axel pounded her core like there was no tomorrow. She smirked; her plan worked despite the soreness she's feeling right now. When Axel stirred in his sleep and opened his eyes, their eyes met. "Good morning, hon," she greeted him cheerfully.Axel nodded his head, rubbed his eyes, and got off the bed. Then he looked at her. "What happened last night won't change anything. The divorce will continue," he said, going to the bathroom.Sherry bit her lower lip in sadness. She was hurt because she expected that what happened last night meant something to him. Their sex was incredible! It was one of the best sex they ever had during their two-year marriage—five rounds of hot lovemaking—and she was over the moon.Sigh...It doesn't matter what he says to her; as long as she gets pregnant, the rest doesn't matter anymore. She continued lying on the bed, facing the wall, li
At 6:00 in the evening, Axel's parents finally arrived at the mansion."Good evening, Dad, Mom!" Axel greeted his parents cheerfully."Good evening, Dad, Mom!" Sherry greeted her in-laws, who are both very kind to her."Sherry, dear, you are looking gorgeous as ever!" Clara hugged her daughter-in-law.Axel and his father hugged briefly."It's nice to be back here in our home, son. The place still looks the same," Edd said, scanning the place fondly."Yes, Dad. We didn't make any improvements or renovations to this house because it's already perfect in many ways," Axel said, guiding his 70-year-old father into the couch. The father and son began talking about their prosperous family business, which is heavy in concrete and steel products. They are the biggest supplier of construction products in the entire country. While Clara and Sherry discussed food recipes, gardening, and babies,"Dear, when are you going to have a baby?" Clara asked fondly, staring at her daughter-in-law's flat tu
The following day, at 7:00 in the morning, the party decorator arrived with a team of twenty people and they quickly launched into a frenzy to turn the backyard into a snow theme party.Meanwhile, in the mansion, Axel, Sherry, and their parents ate breakfast in the dining room, and when the meal was over, they went to the backyard to see the progress of the decoration. The four settled on the couch, relaxing while at the same time observing the flurry of activities happening around them.At 11:30 in the morning, the decoration of the venue of the party was finished, and the whole place was transformed into a white wonderland complete with snow-covered grass, trees, and flowers."Wow, amazing!" Clara raved after the decoration was finished. The result deeply impressed her."Fantastic!" Vikki gushes, clapping her hands in glee. She looked at her daughter. "What do you think, daughter?" she asked, seeking her opinion.Sherry gave her mother and mother-in-law a thumbs up. "Stunning! I'm t
