LIES

-Amara, please tell me something.

Wade kept insisting, he had brought me to a strange place near town. It was later that I realized it was an ice cream parlor. The place was half empty. We were sitting at a table in front of a huge glass window that overlooked the road and the parking lot, on the other side of the road the forest began. Raindrops fogged up the glass. It had started to rain.

-I... he... they... -was what I mumbled, feeling too shocked to utter a complete sentence.

-I know," he replies.

I looked at him quickly, that's when I remembered that Wade hadn't been scared by the sight of that huge wolf; he acted very natural. And that puzzled me.

-Did you know? -I questioned. I was hurt that Elder hadn't told me what he really was. I was hurt that he had sweetened my ear and convinced me to be with him in every way. I think maybe he and Melania were laughing at me behind my back.
