Chapter 40

Ryleigh's daughter was already asleep and Abby was waiting for her in their tiny living room when she arrived home.

Rye felt the fatigue of her first day of work when she threw herself onto the sofa, rested her head on the headrest, and massaged her temples while closing her eyes.

Abby said, "Tiring?" as she handed Rye a glass of water she obtained upon his arrival.

She said, "Not really," while maintaining her position.

Abby sat opposite her. “So…”

“Hmmm…” The rye moaned.

"Have you seen him?"

Her brows were wrinkled. She opened her eyes and then sat up straight. “Him? Who?”

Abby's eyes rolled. “Duh! Of course, Ace!"

Rye emitted a gentle giggle. “Yeah.”

Abby proceeded onward. "How is he doing? He's quite attractive and gorgeous, right? And his physique, dammit, that looks delicious, right? Right?” Rye has no idea why Abby is acting strangely toward a man. And why does she have the impression that Abby is faking her enthusiasm?
