Chapter 5

Mr Williams is in the lounge reading a newspaper and drinking wine.

“Hi dad, I was told you want to see me.”

“Natalie sit down and have a drink with me.”

“O…Kay! Where’s mum?”

“She’s in her room, is Philip still around?”

“Oh yes, I left him in the garden we were talking about our wedding preparations.”

“Wonderful you need to pick a date soon because your engagement has taken too long nothing is stopping you two to start a family.”

“We will dad, should I call him?”

“No! no! I want to talk to you alone, how are the studies going and when are you graduating?”

“ I Gradu….., I mean I’m graduating next year October I will send you and mum the invite. Yes the graduation invite.”

“I see, now tell me how have you been living in France exactly for the past one year?”

“What do you mean dad?”

“Natalie is there anything you want to tell your father?”

Natalie is now in fear thinking his father now knows her secret. How will she explain herself, Will her father understand and accept her choice of life? Will he disown her for embarrassing him and putting his name in shame.

“Dad, what are you talking about?”

“You know my daughter just tell me why you decided to keep it a secret?”

“I’m so sorry dad please forgive me I failed to tell you and mum because I didn’t want to disappoint you. looking at Nathan’s behavior recently, I didn’t want to make you feel like you have failed us as parents I..”

Natalie is cut short by her mother who’s coming down stairs.

“Nat, what makes you think we are not proud of who you have become?”

“You’re? It’s just that it’s difficult to come out to your family as..”

She’s cut short by her father

“Sweetheart I wanted you to be a lawyer because you know how I feel about strangers in our business, I should have asked what you really wanted to do with your life.Yes i was disappointed when I first found out you changed your career and school but your mother calmed me down she told me how much you wanted to be a designer when you were a little girl so I figured it was best to let you be who you want.”

“Dad!” [signs] Natalie feeling good and lucky that her Big secret that can send her father to the grave is still a secret.

“And congratulations on your graduation I’m proud of you baby girl. Even if I don’t understand this fashion industry, let me know when you are ready to start up your own business.”

“Thank you Dad I appreciate. Mum, thank you for the support.”

“I’m going to be your first customer Baby I want a dress for my friend’s birthday party that is coming up in April”

“No problem mummy, that day you will be the talk of the town.” They all laugh.

Happiness has filled the room once more and Mr Williams is happy to know he made the right decision in letting her daughter become who she wanted to be, at least, she’s responsible and can never bring shame to his name.

“I love you both, let me check up on Philip.”

“Sure go ahead”

Nathan is at his house watching Rebeca park her things.

“Rebeca, listen love, this marriage is just on paper we can still continue seeing each other.”

“Your mother was right. I’m educated enough to know when a man is selling me stories, how the hell did we move from 6 months max to 5 years? You think I’m growing younger each day? You are such a selfish bastard .”

“Forget about what my mother told you she doesn’t understand what we feel for each other. Believe me I have a plan that will force Angela out of this marriage just give me some time to put everything in order.”

“Make me your second wife.”

“What?”

“Yes, and I will give your father grand children he desperately wants then he will have no use for Angela.”

“Are you insane? who told you I’m cut for that rubbish? Not only will I lose my inheritance but also my father’s trust he has for me over his businesses.”

“Moreover my father wants his first legitimate grandchild from Angela and not any other woman what you are asking me is not possible.”

Rebeca feeling helpless and angry starts crying.

“I thought you loved me, I thought I was more important than your money or whatever you have with your father, you told me I will always come first.”

“Girl you thought wrong, I will not lose my inheritance and the businesses I worked hard for just so I can be with you . What my father did isn’t a death sentence, after all, he even left a loophole for me so if you ain’t willing to wait then it’s alright because I will not be pressured by you too.”

“I see you never loved me, you gonna regret wasting my time.”

“ I’m calling you a cab you need to hurry up because I got to go.”

Rebeca looks at Nathan in awe trying to figure out what went wrong with her man. She really believed she going to be Mrs Williams and all his other girls she was competing with will have no choice but to back down. Never in her wildest dream did she ever imagined someone like Angela can win the Mrs title without even fighting for it, she’s not going to let some common fat girl steal her man, impossible! she will stay and fight.

“Babe I’m sorry I even suggested that, it just that I love you too much and seeing you playing family with Another woman hurts my feelings, I will help you with whatever you need to end this marriage at your own time and I will be here waiting for you.”

Nathan is busy pressing his phone without showing remorse or giving her any attention.

“Babe i said I’m sorry”

“Yah! Yah! I hear you, the cab is waiting outside let’s go!”

Rebeca is hurt but she tries to keep calm. They both leave the house Nathan gets in his car and drives off to her her Father’s house in meanwood. Rebeca gets in the cab and tell the drive to drop her off in woodlands whilst crying uncontrollable.
