Chapter 26

One hour or two, I'm not really certain how long I have been waiting at the sand in utter fear. The night only got darker and what alarmed me was the sudden change of the waves' movement. The wind blew colder too, making me tremble in my thin sleeveless top.

Florian's gentle kisses flashed in my head. How he caresses me softly last night and how we cuddled me in his arms was etched bitterly in my mind. I couldn't help but think it could be the last time I'd be able to touch him like that. My heart ached painfully at that thought. 

How I could I not notice? I wasn't even aware of his absence while I was peacefully working out at home? Why has nobody suspected their missing presence? They should've been here before afternoon but nobody actually noticed? Everyone just got alarmed after the sunset?
