49: Until Morning

CHRISTY:

Everette found me sitting on the sand, continuously staring at the calm water. After Mother called, I could not fathom going back to where Everette was and pretended as if everything was okay. It was somewhat of a good decision that I had come to this place even if I had not known that Mother would call.

This place was my solace in my chaotic mind. The soft whisper of the wind and the waves calmed my raging emotions.

I wished Mom would change. I wished she would finally start seeing her sons and daughter as her son, not some sort of investment or someone who would back up money.

Until now, I did not know how the heck would I look for the hundred dollars she wanted. Would I ask for Everette’s money? Or will I just let it slide?

If I don’t give her anything, she might do something to Dad.

I had no good memories of my parents. But still…if Dad was not sick, I wouldn’t be worried for him.

“Kitten.”

I jerked back to the present upon hearing Everette’s voice.

He sat beside me.
