CHAPTER SEVENTY-SEVEN

DEPENDENCE

Lara couldn't take her eyes off the mirror. With one hand covering her mouth, tears of emotion streamed down her face. The young woman's large eyes were watery, making for a beautiful photo.

"Clara, why didn't I do this earlier?" Lara asked, still gazing at herself in the mirror. Clara had shaved one side of her head and the nape of her neck, leaving the rest of her hair to fall to one side, revealing the skin where it had been shaved. "I've suffered for years, trying to straighten and touch up my roots, and yet, look how beautiful it is now!"

"Everything has its time, Lara. Now was the right time. And I'll warn you, on the first day, clients usually get excited too, some of them. But as the days go by, some of them change their minds and straighten their hair again, so if you want to, you can go back to straightening it without any problem, okay?"

"Okay, but I don't think I'll straighten it again. I've wanted to go back to natural hair for a long time."
