I'd noticed a certain black car behind us a few minutes earlier. I'd slowed down slightly and waited for the SUV to pass us. It hadn't. I had taken a turn I normally wouldn't have chosen, but after a few minutes, the black car was still on our tail. Shit.

“You have your seatbelts on?” I asked, looking at Sarah. She nodded, and I corrected my grip on the wheel. “Hold on. We will try to lose him.”

I looked ahead. The lights had just turned green. I hit the gas and jerked the wheel, turning into the left lane. I heard Sarah gasp as the sudden rush pushed her back into the seat. “You're OK?” I glanced at her and saw her nervously biting her lip but nodding. I smirked and sped up, swiftly maneuvering between two lanes.

The black SUV was still visible in my rearview mirror. The fucker behind the wheel surely didn't care about being discreet, and that definitely was not a good sign. The car following us sped up, passing two cars, closing the space between us, and nearly hitting my bumpe
