For once in her life, Jennet had a peaceful working day because Mira was not around to humiliate her. Mira’s minions were also busy with their matters. It gave Jennet the blissful time she had been looking for and she even wrote down in her diary about the peaceful day.
After work in the evening, she dropped Marvina at the apartment. Then, she drove home. Luckily, the road was not congested and she reached home around seven o’clock in the evening.
While unlocking the front door, she looked around keenly because, for some unknown reason, she felt restless; as if someone followed her from work. But, there was no one around except for the silence that crept around.
Inhaling and exhaling deeply, she entered the villa and immediately locked the door; double lock, at least. Ever since she lived alone, it has been the priority to lock the door because who knows who might make an unannounced visit.
While changing footwear into house slippers, she switched the lights on. In less than five seconds, warm lights emerged from every light bulb, illuminating the house and lighting the area. From the outside, the villa was brightly lit!
Jennet smiled widely, feeling contained. Somehow the bright light cheered her mood.
‘Nothing scary will appear,’ she thought and inhaled another deep breath of relief while making her way up the stairs; into her bedroom.
Unfortunately, unknown to her, tiny bullets of bubbles appeared; flew around from every direction starting from the floor. It was not known where the source came from. As the bubbles accumulated, noiselessly, it formed a figure of a tall person. The tall translucent figure stood behind her, clutched to her blazer and tailed her like an emu chick.
Jennet halted at the door of the bedroom when a chilling feeling crept from behind her back. Her brows furrowed as she slowly turned her head over her shoulder. However, she found nothing.
‘That is weird.’ She thought. The hair on her back rose steadily and so did her heartbeat. She hurriedly entered the room.
Then, she turned around, peered through the slightly ajar door; to observe the empty hallway. She waited for something to happen but nothing happened as she hoped for.
'I must be imagining things. It was just the wind.' She murmured to herself, extinguishing the fear that clouded her sanity. She closed the door and went to the dressing table, tossing her handbag on the table. Then, she started to undress.
While undressing, a pair of jade-blue eyes was watching her eagerly. However, it was not long when she stopped taking off her shirts. She glanced around cautiously with a hand clutched to her shirt.
The uneasiness in her chest did not wane but got worse. She went to the door and did a double check on the lock. Then, she went back to undressing. However, it was not long when she stopped undressing; feeling insecure. She had a feeling that someone was watching but she could not tell the location of the onlooker.
The pressing feeling was just too much to be held. So, she went to the balcony and looked out at the darkened evening. The lawn was brightly lit by spotlights as there was nothing unusual around the area of her residence. Everything was quiet and still.
On the other hand, the person with the jade-blue eyes gritted his teeth. ‘Take your clothes off. Let me feast my eyes on your exquisitely sculptured body!’
He was hoping to see her getting fully undressed body. But she seemed able to sense him and that was not a good idea. So, he waited for her to resume her action.
Suddenly, a catchy ringtone broke the silence in the room.
Jennet gasped as her heart raced. It took her a while to finally calm down before running to answer the phone call.
A smile lit up her pale face as she joyously answered the call. “Hello, what is up? I did not expect you called me,” her voice softened. She moved to the sliding door, pulled the curtains open a bit; looking out.
On the other hand, her companion who stood beside her was looking surly. 'Who dares to call my wife at this time?'
He craned his neck towards the screen of her smartphone. He saw a name; Luca Tybelg!
His mood worsened. He glared at the woman, who smiled from ear to ear as she talked with Luca; giggling while at it too. So not like her usual self, he soliloquised.
He huffed and puffed with jealousy. Yes, he was madly jealous! Her girly laughter made him uncomfortable. It was unendearingly hurtful that he had to stand the sight of her answering phone call from another man in his presence.
He went after her, trying to snatch the phone however his hands went through her body. He tried to shake her body but the same thing happened; his hands went through her body. He wasn’t able to touch her.
‘Grrr, I hate this formless body!’ he groaned in frustration. He paced back and forth; biting his nail anxiously. Then, an idea struck him.
“Little Veen!” he yelled out loudly. Since humans cannot see him due to his unstable form, it also meant, humans cannot hear his voice. They were in a different dimension although he can see and hear the humans converse with each other.
Shortly after that Little Veen appeared. His dark-blue eyes glued at the angry face before him.
“Yes, Master?” his voice was calm as he spoke.
"Disrupt their conversation now. No one is allowed to call my wife at this hour!" his master said in anger.
Little Veen said nothing but nodded his little head. He disappeared after receiving the command.
The blond walked towards Jennet and stood beside her, glaring. His eyes grew wider in annoyance the longer she talked on the phone.
‘For how long are you going to continue chit-chatting with that homewrecker?!’ he fumed. He sulked. Oh boy, he sure is as angry as a centaur!
“I am safe here. Everything is just fine. There is no need for me to move out. Yes, I am fine.” Jennet smiled. She was happy to be on good terms with her newly-made friend and so she thought.
Before she could continue talking, the call was suddenly disconnected. She took a long look at the smartphone; hoping to see a single bar to make an appearance but there was none. The reception seemed to disappear forever.
“Hmm, that is weird,” she soliloquised, “the reception was excellent earlier.” She raised the phone higher and stayed rooted there for a few minutes but the tiny bar did not appear.
“Should not houses built by the hills get stronger reception?” she surmised and moved around in the hope to get what she sought. It seemed the area had been unplugged from getting any phone reception.
On the other hand, the culprit was smiling happily while the clueless woman busied herself to figure out the problem. His little assistance did an excellent job just as he expected. He followed her around when she pulled the curtain and left the phone on the table.
“I hope Luca understands what I just said.” She exhaled deeply.
She went to the dressing table, looking at her face in the mirror. “Well, I think it’s better to have dinner before taking a bath,” her eyes rolled here and there, “I feel uneasy to take a bath at this moment.”
Then, she left the bedroom.
As soon as she left, the blond shrieked in madness. “No!” he gritted his teeth; suppressing the urge to tear up. Why would she want to have dinner first? She should take a bath, first!
“Master,” called Little Veen who appeared beside him, "please do not spill your tears. You have to make her say your name so that the barrier between you will be gone."
His master glared at him with watery eyes. However, the little boy was not surprised by it. He was too used to it.
“By the way, do you want a lollipop?” he asked. A big and colourful lollipop appeared in his tiny hand as he held it out towards his master.
His master scoffed in anger as he looked away, “Why should I be offered such a thing? I don’t know what to do with it.”
“When humans are sad, they eat something sweet to cheer up,” explained the poker-faced boy, “you should give it a try. It is delicious too.”
“I am not even a human!” roared his master.
“Then, it is the more reason for you to try it. We can find out if it has the same effects on non-human.”
His master looked at him with red and wet eyes. "Where did you get this?" he asked; his voice lowered.
“While I was looking after your wife during the day, an innocent young soul offered it to me as a gratitude.” Little Veen answered. A little girl gifted it to him when he went to disguise himself as a toddler of a none-exist mother who went on a park debut with her child.
The blond took the lollipop and observed it, “How do I savour this round and sweet-smelling thing?” he asked and sat on the floor.
“Humans savour it by licking it continuously.” Little Veen replied.
“Licking it continuously?” the blond asked with a frown as if the thing he held was something dirty. He cannot imagine if a being of his calibre were seen licking a lollipop, human’s stuff, he would be made into a laughing stock by those annoying officials back in his realm.
“Yes, lick it as if your life depends on it,” the little boy replied seriously, “that’s how I see those young humans savour it.” He added an explanation after a moment of pause.
“I do not think I like it,” His master answered, “here, you take it since it was given to you and savour it just like how those young humans savour it. Also, tell me the result if you have a slight change in your mood.” He handed the lollipop to the little boy. Little Veen took the lollipop and he disappeared with it.
Shortly after the disappearance of the little boy, he stood up and muttered, "I much prefer to 'eat' my wife. I want her to free me tonight no matter what happens."
He stepped out of the bedroom and went to the kitchen with a burning intention. He had to be freed from the confinement as soon as possible.
Jennet sat alone at the dining table with a cup of instant spicy noodles. She had been eating instant foods ever since she made up her mind to buy a house. As she instilled the unhealthy habit, it became a routine as time went by. It is hard to part from it now. Sometimes, she craved the taste of a proper homecooked meal. However, since she did not usually cook, she abandoned the thought. The same tall figure sat beside her with both hands cupping his cheeks on the table. He smiled as he watched her finishing the cup noodle. When she accidentally scalded her tongue, a scowl appeared on his handsome face and he glared at the cup, badgering the static thing for an answer.‘How dare you hurt my wife’s delicate tongue!’ he cursed at the cup noodle who was probably speechless for the blame if it was a living being. The blond shifted his adoring glance towards Jennet who took a cautious feed from the piping hot cup. Her cheeks reddened as she slurped
Kring!!Jennet jerked awake by the sound of the alarm clock. She stared at the ceiling mindlessly. After a while, she yawned. Then, from under the cover, she reached out for the clock and hit the snooze. After the sound died down, she laid still for a few minutes while scratching her head. “I was dreaming last night,” she reminded herself like a mindless woman. She yawned again like a lazy cat that was forcefully woken up in the morning. As she propelled her body into a seating position, she glanced at the bathroom. Flashes of memories from the event in the bathroom appeared in her head. She looked at herself; she was in her favourite pyjamas. She chuckled, relieving herself of the worry.“I was worried for nothing. Everything was a dream, a wild dream of a single woman who lives alone,” she said to herself. Instead of feeling sad, she smiled widely. She jumped off the bed, slid the glass door to the side and went to the bal
Jennet inhaled a deep breath as soon as the phone call ended. Luckily, Luca was an understanding person because she was being a jerk for forcing her boss to end the call. No one has ever done that to Luca before, probably.Marvina raised her head, "Who called? It sounds quite important." She spoke.Jennet looked at her. "It’s our big boss," she answered with a sigh."Mira?" Marvina guessed. No one other than Mira could make Jennet sigh so much."No, the other big boss," Jennet denied the guess.Marvina eyebrows knitted as she made another guess, "Mr Tybelg?"Jennet nodded and sighed again. She was unhappy when Marvina mentioned that name.Marvina asked another question, “What does he want? It is rare for him to call you."Jennet sighed deeply. Somehow, she was unwilling to tell Marvina about her lunch date with Luca. Yes, yesterday, she was eager to share the news with her but then after things that happened last ni
"Chickenpox?" Dr Tiana's face got twisted. She examined the face before her. There were no red spots or rashes on her face. But, she looked very healthy with her glowing skin. In the doctor’s eyes, she looked like a newlywed. So, the doctor asked kindly, "Can I trouble you to show me where in the part of your body do the rashes appear?”"It is all over my body!" Jennet replied. Her face was the embodiment of worry. Then, she added, "Maybe it is because I am allergic to something. Last night before bed, I ate spicy noodles. But, I have been eating noodles for as long as I can remember. I have never gotten these red spots on me." She showed her stomach to the female doctor.Dr Tiana listened attentively to her while looking at the reddish-purple marks on her skin. Her brows furrowed.'Well, these red spots look weird. It is not even rashes caused by chickenpox.' She thought. The marks Jennet claimed as rashes looked exactly like hi
"Is she gone?" he whispered to Little Veen that stood calmly beside him. "Yes, Master." Replied Little Veen. He glanced at his panic looking, master. "You should enter the house now before she locks the door." "Not now. She will only get angry after seeing me." Hue said and looked at the brightly lit villa. He watched Jennet heading upstairs to her bedroom with her laundry. He sighed deeply. He was the culprit and he did not dare to approach her yet. Little Veen observed his physical body. His master had regained his solid form. He was happy about the achievement. "You have retrieved your body now. Shouldn’t we rejoice for the accomplishment?" He suggested. Hue shook his head while glaring at the little boy. "Not yet,” he barked. “They will take everything back if I start to rejoice for this small accomplishment." He said, feeling wary of what he had just achieved. If he were to rejoice now, there will be no telling when they d
The sun had not risen from the east and the sky was still dark. Everything was still, not moving. No wind to blow the tree leaves. No movements of animals in any area. In the morning, it was just the silence that embraced the surroundings as if everything had turned to stone. "Aahh!!" A desperate scream came from the villa. The scream alone shook everything to live, awakening everyone from their deep slumbers. Birds scattered in urgency, leaving their trees. As light lit up the villa, a shadow appeared on the curtain, standing up hurriedly. The shadow grabbed something and hit someone near its feet. A yowl came shortly after that. "Who are you?!” Jennet yelled and raised the bolster in her hands. “Get out! Get out!" she hit the long-haired man with it. She panicked when she saw a foreign man, half-naked, sleeping beside her as soon as she woke up. The sleepiness in her has washed away as the adrenaline surged throughout her body. It kept her
Jennet stared at the man who laid powerless below her. His long golden hair was all over the bed. He was seductive just by being bare-chested. He looked like a beautiful painting with his almond-shaped eyes and those jade blue irises were something rare to her; it was so enchanting. His perfectly shaped face, high nose and pinkish thin lips made him somehow, much beautiful than her and she was annoyed by the realisation. His flushed face made him look rather docile... no, he appeared amazingly appetizing. He was as helpless as a bunny who had to confront a ferocious wolf!Jennet had never been in close contact with a man in her entire life and she got scared easily when approached by one. When he was on top of her body just now, she panicked because it was a strange feeling when their chests were pinned against each other. She had never experienced that awkward feeling before. Not to mention, up close she could smell the sweet scent from his body. The lin
Jennet rooted in front of him while scratching her neck again. ‘I can’t keep this up. He has to stop crying. Let see if I can be harsher on him.’She approached and yanked him on the arm, “Stop crying. You’re a grown man!” Her eyes widened at the same time.Hue flinched as their eyes met. That instant he burst into tears as if he saw a ghost. He moved to the corner and called her ‘mean wife’ countless times.Jennet grumbled in annoyance. It ticked her when he called her the ‘mean wife’. He made it look as if she bullied him!She bit her inner lip, suppressing the anger that she kept within. She had no idea how to deal with him. At last, she gave up and left the room with hands in her hair as she grunted in exasperation. ‘Argh, I need to clear my mind. This is unbelievable.’As she walked down the stairs, Hue’s crying echoed in the empty hallway. Strangely, as minutes pass
