I have gone back to work as normal and as usual, I am avoiding Dave. I need to find a new job. He has been implacable. He texts and calls me every day asking for forgiveness and for another chance. I don’t want to give him another chance to crush my heart.
I told Pat everything that happened between me and Harry and she surprised me. She said I should go after him. I should follow my heart and be happy. She says I have been depriving myself of love for a long time and she’s never seen me look at Dave the way I look at Harry.

His chest still wet with some water rubbing down his back. His every move makes his perfect muscles back move in a hypothetical way. I shake my head and cross my arms in front of my chest while I rest against the door frame.
