It was almost half past six. It was time for Sonnet to head back home. She poked her head out of the door and realized that Mr. Hoffman, Myles’s doctor, was still in his office. She thought that she was extremely lucky.

She knocked on the door of Mr. Hoffman’s office and asked, “Mr. Hoffman, I heard that my dad was in a critical condition today afternoon. Is that so? Was his condition extremely severe?”

Anson Hoffman smiled and replied, “This is a common condition among patients that receive chemotherapy. It’ll be alright as long as they are discovered and rescued in time.”

“Will this always happen to my father?” Sonnet had a worried gaze in her eyes.

Anson shook his head and said, “It happens occasionally. It won’t always happen. We’ll pay closer attention to his white blood cell count after this incident. If a significant reduction in his white blood cell count is detected, preventative measures will be taken in advance.”
