chapter 4

HER GROOM. HER GUARD.

They were out of the hospital, Melita had decided to go see the priest before they left for home.

She wants this marriage to take place in a few days to come. Keeping her waiting isn't what she needs at the point.

While they drove to the priest's residence some miles away from the big building which was known as the church, she parked the car in the garage and they both alighted outta it.

"Now, put a smile on your face. Ferdinand, it's time you pretend that we both are lovers, don't ever let the priest know that you are hired for this…" She warned him.

Ferdinand nodded, he already knew the rules… but this time, it was getting numerous. She had ordered him when signing the contract never to refer to her as a wife, and here she is giving the opposite of the order.

He watched her as she took long steps towards the huge building.

Ohmigod! That lady is something else. She's not just a damsel but has everything to be called a woman.

He will never love her. Yes, he's trying his best not to. All because, he can't bear it seeing her feel heartbroken, because he will soon depart from this planet.

Seventy-five days to live. A day passed after the doctor announced the tragic news to him. Now, it's seventy-four days remaining.

Gosh! The days are running so fast. He can't wait to start lavishing Melita's money. A lot of things to do that he has never done before.

The first he had done is to sign a contract marriage. Which he hasn't done for the first time, and doesn't ever have on mind doing it.

Despite the order given to him by Melita, he's doing his wish. Even within these sixty days, he's gonna do the undoable…he has the list of everything to set himself up with.

Signing a contract with Melita won't stop him from drinking himself to a stupor, clubbing, having too many women to fuck as he wishes, eating death out of his life, and then traveling and going to places he wishes.

He's gonna affix himself with all this before the seventy-fifth day elapses.

"You don't need to be told what to do now, follow me instantly…" A familiar but commanding voice drew him outta his silly thought.

Yep! It's silly. That's because no responsible man, or rather human will ever think of the shit going on in his mind.

But he has no other option left than to do all that, to achieve something before departing.

He left the building with Melita, they were offered a seat in the visitor's room to wait for the priest.

Ferdinand couldn't stop staring around, he loved how decorated they seemed to be. Both the interior and exterior of it.

"Good afternoon priest." Melita cheered.

Ferdinand sighted the not-too-old man and greeted him too. He loved how young and strong the priest is.

"You're all welcome. I think it's better seating with you in the office." The priest stated and left the visitor's room.

Melita jerked her handbag and left instantly while Ferdinand followed her.

"Have a seat." The priest offered them.

They both got seated opposite him with slight smiles affixed to their faces.

"You two are a couple right?" The priest asked them.

She glanced at Ferdinand and he returned the glance. "Yeah! We're couples. So we're here to book our marriage which I want to take place three days to come…"

Ferdinand nodded acceding to what she uttered.

"Young man, you aren't saying a word…" the priest referred to Ferdinand.

He smiled and relaxed on the chair, his eyes faded while staring at Melita who sat beside him.

"She's already illustrating everything, so there's nothing left for me to say again." His brows knitted, and then he adjusted on the chair placing his arm on the table. "We aren't couples yet, but want to be one in a few days to come."

The priest nodded. "But it's so urgent."

"Yes, it is. I can't watch my only brother depart while I haven't gotten married yet. He needs to see my wedding pictures." She hung back and gulped deeply while taking a glance at Ferdinand. "It's just a wedding with my friends and families who will be present, please."

He drew the table open and brought out a book and a pen, he wrote down some words and then handed them over to them.

"Put down your names and signature, and make sure you are here three days to come…" the priest instructed them.

They nodded and took the booklet from him. Melita had her name put down with her signature and then handed it over to Ferdinand who did the required.

"We have to be on our way now," Melita remarked and grabbed her handbag.

The priest waved them goodbye and Ferdinand left with her out of the building to the car.

"Why is the wedding in three days to come? Isn't it too urgent?" The question popped out of his throat as they were riding home.

She grimaced at him and hissed loudly. "I want it to take place as soon as possible, or didn't you hear what the doctor said about my brother. I don't ever want to lose him while he isn't happy with me…" she snapped his face again and continued the ride.

Precisely, Ferdinand heard everything the doctor said about his brother, and he considered his situation to be fairer than his.

He had wondered about the sort of sickness he was battling with that her sister's wealth cannot bring an end to.

"Melita, remember you're moving against the contract rules. This isn't what you stated before I dropped my signature…" Ferdinand brought up an issue to resolve. While uttering all this, he didn't spare her a glance.

She sniffed while rolling her eyes. The young man is correct, she's moving against the contract rules… but then, she has nothing to do with it. It's just for the meantime.

Melita didn't bother giving a response to the statement he made, because he's so right. They aren't alleged to be referred to as couples for any reason.

She drove into the compound and parked the car in the garage and they both alighted from it.

"Hey! Mr. Ferdinand, don't ever forget this. The upcoming wedding isn't making you my husband and will never." She grabbed her handbag from the car and locked it up.

"Hold this…" she handed the bag over to him and he welcomed it into his palm. "Forget about everything that occurred today, that doesn't set you free from my prison. You are still a hired groom, and will always be my guard and personal servant in this home."

Ferdinand watched her take long steps out of his sight to the veranda without glancing backward. He wondered what the heck that was going on.

Gosh! He never thought of the contract to be up to this, but despite all… he still loves Melita and is in for the contract.

He isn't gonna give up until the sixty days are over. Melita is his boss, and he's ready to be a servant just like she stated, so long as he will get the opportunity to do and get everything he has in mind within the contract days.

Melita twirled her neck backward to get Ferdinand still standing beside the car, she curled her face in annoyance.

"Hey! You jerk, what are you still doing over there? Get me my bag immediately…" she ordered him.

He shuddered and moved forward to the veranda to meet her.

They both stepped into the sitting room and then up the stairs to their room.

Christina sighted their presence but kept mute, she only wanted to study their movement and how they were doing.

Her eyes caught Ferdinand gripping Melita's handbag. She gasped in shock.

Anyways, she isn't supposed to be shocked, because she had known that her boss will never love the dude, all she wants is the industry and that's why she's doing this.

"This is my room. It is known as the mistress compartment, mind the way you behave here or I'll show you the way to hell…" she notified.

Ferdinand only stared at her, all that matters now is to take something into his stomach, the rumbling and bites are getting more intense.

"I'll love to have my dinner before taking a shower. The hunger is much." Ferdinand commented while she was about to step into the bathroom.

She gazed at him and sighed. "Mr. Ferdinand, you aren't here to fill your stomach, rather serve me. You will have to wait till I'm done with taking shower and having my meal before you do yours."

He felt the ground would open and eat him up, with the feelings he has within him, he might not survive it till she's done.

But he had to wait patiently and comfort himself until Melita was done with both taking shower and having her meal before he had his.

Being molested by a female isn't under his list, but then he's passing through hell.
