Assassination


Carissa had stayed outside all night until the sun rose into the sky. Black lines appeared below her eyes as she had entertained her wild thoughts for hours.

She waited until breakfast passed by and for Mateo to leave the residence before she slowly got up and stretch her numb limbs. She went upstairs to Mateo’s room and dismissed the servant who called her to have breakfast.

She closed the door and looked at the empty bed with coldness in her eyes. Then, she laid on the sofa before curling herself up and closed her eyes.

When she woke up, the entire room was dark. She sat up and tried to clear her head but failed as dizziness attack her. She could feel her body heating up as her head pounds. She realized that she has a fever. She stood up, stumbling a few times as she walk towards the door and fumbled with the switch.
