"Your highness? Can I come in?"
Hazel sighed and stroked Yuka's fur one more time. She watched him as he jumped down from her bed and was soon staring at her from the window."Come in" she said, still staring at Yuka's cat form.
"I'll see you later" she whispered and he jumped out of the window right before the door was opened.Violet stepped in. She was dressed in a white blouse and white pants, her blue hair in a ponytail. Hazel's eyes widened when she saw her. "It's good to see you, Violet" she said and Violet grinned. "How is the royal life treating you?" Violet asked, smiling at her.
"Adapting to it isn't as easy as I thought"
Violet squeezed her hand gently and set to work. A bluish glow appeared on the tips of her fingers and spread further to her upper arms. She gently touched Hazel's black eye and healed her. By the time she was done with healing the future queen, Caden walked in."How are you feeling?" He asked and Hazel shrugged.
"I feel great. Thanks to Violet""Wait, you two know each other?""Yes, your majesty" Violet said and Caden nodded slowly. After Violet had left, Caden sat down beside Hazel's bed and gazed at her."Is there something on my face?" She asked, giving him a smile. "Yes, there is" he said and she sat up."What is it?""Your beautuful eyes, your pretty nose..."She couldn't help but laugh."I really don't know what to say to you, Caden. For a prince, you're so weird" she said and he chuckled."We're all weird in our own unique way. But that's beside the point. I want us to go on a date" the prince said and Hazel stared at him, wide eyed. 'Oh no, please no. A real date? I've never been on a date before. It's going to be a disaster!' she thought.
"When are we...""Right now" he said and she blinked."Now?"'This is not good' she thought."Wait, have you never dated anyone?" the prince asked and her cheeks turned pink from embarassment."I haven't dated anyone" she responded and he grinned."It means, I'm going to make sure your first date is going to be memorable" he said and she forced out a smile."I'm excited" she said, even though she was no where near excited.A few minutes after Caden and Hazel's conversation, they both went to the garden for their date. Hazel was wearing a yellow dress that accentuated her curves and was long enough to cover her feet. Just as they began to eat, a royal servant walked up to them and bowed. "What is it?" Caden asked, his voice tinged with annoyance.
"Your father is presently having a meeting with the generals and the seven council members" the servant said and Caden frowned. "The council members? Why would he be having a meeting with them?"The seven council members were the pillars of the kingdom. They were young men with shaved hair and bright silver eyes. They didn't have pupils but they could see beyond.
They all lived isolated in the center of Silvera. But they were also the eyes and ears of the king. They had strong psychic powers that could bend the will of a whole army. This was what made Silvera very dangerous. The king wouldn't have a meeting with the council members if whatever that was going to be discussed was something of meagre importance."What's really going on?" Caden asked and the servant bowed again.
"Your majesty, the royal sceptre has been declared missing"Prince Caden went pale instantly. Hazel stiffened in her chair, nervously fiddling with her fingers. When Yuka had told her that he was going to steal the scepter, for a moment, she hadn't believed that he would take such risk. But now, she realized what kind of person he was. He was brave, fearless and formidable. How was she supposed to hate someone like him? How was she supposed to stay away from the man who was so selfless, he'd stolen the scepter just to help her.
"Hazel, I'll be right back" the crown prince said and stormed off with the servant who was struggling to catch up with him.
A dreadful thought came to Hazel's mind and she rose to her feet, panic quickly overwhelming her.
What if they found out that Yuka had stolen it? Would they kill him this time?"Hazel Spiers?"She froze when she heard the queen's frosty voice coming from behind her. She slowly turned to look at her with a blank expression."Aren't you ashamed of yourself?" the queen asked."I don't understand. I did nothing wrong" Hazel said, clenching her fist."I can't believe my son chose someone like you. You do not deserve to be queen, Rubian. I've been watching you. You have been going to the East wing very frequently, haven't you?"Hazel's fingernails dug into her palms as her annoyance began to surge within her.
"I don't see why I should be ashamed of that. It's not like I am having an affair with Yuka" she said and the queen slapped her across the face, hard."Don't you dare say his name in front of me. What do you think Caden is going to do, if he finds out that you've been visiting his brother a lot more than you hang out with him?""I don't see why any of that is your business, your highness. I do not appreciate you treating me like trash. I might have red blood in my veins but that doesn't mean that I'm a nonentity. If you're so upset about Caden choosing me as his bride, why don't you talk to him about it?" Hazel said, refusing to get intimidated by the queen.
"You're playing with fire" the queen spat."Oh, am I?"Hazel looked like she was enjoying herself.
"I could kill you right now, you know that, right?" the queen hissed.Hazel let out a humourless laughter, her eyes flashing with anger.
"Are you threatening me right now, your highness? No, wait. You are threatening me. Wait until Caden hears about it" The queen was getting more riled up by the second. She couldn't understand why Hazel was so immune to her. She hated it. Evey other person in the palace was completely under her control. Everyone but Yuka and Hazel. She was frustrated. Since she couldn't get either of them to fear her, she was pissed. "I have a hunch that you stole the Sceptre. But since I have no proof, I'm going to let that slide.... for now.You want to act all tough and fearless. That's fine by me. Maybe, just maybe, you're going to end up six feet below the ground sooner than I thought" the queen said and walked away. Hazel glared at the Queen's retreating figure even though, deep down she was worried. Prince Caden was boiling with anger by the time he arrived right in front of the door of Yuka's chamber. He
"Yuka. Hey, can you hear me?" The second prince groaned as he slowly came to, Hazel's voice sounding like it was coming from far away. "Can you hear me?" Hazel asked one more time as she gazed at him. He squinted at her when she finally came into focus. "How are you feeling?" She asked and his eyes widened when he realized that she was in his chambers again. "No, no, no. Hazel, you shouldn't be here. The queen-" he began but was silenced by the finger she placed across his lips. "Forget about the queen. You lied to me" she said, her brows furrowed. He sighed and lowered his gaze. "You told me that the effects of the poison was only going to last for a night" she said. "Hazel-""Don't 'Hazel' me. What the queen has been doing to you is just not right. How can you even stand it?""I'm sorry, I just didn't want you to blame yourself for my punishment" "How are you feeling?" She asked and he gave her a h
Jotham, Silveran Capital2030 To say that Hazel was tensed would be an understatement. She couldn't stop pacing back and forth in her room. She needed to act quickly, but a couple of guards were outside her room. She wouldn't be able to sneak out of her room without being noticed. Hazel had a hunch that among the men standing in front of the door, one of them was a spy that the queen had put in place to monitor her. Negative thoughts invaded her mind. What if she eventually told Yuka to help her and he refuses? What if he agrees to help her, but ends up being too late. She swallowed hard and shook her head, trying to ward off these ugly thoughts. Just before dinner, Hazel decided to sneak out of her room through the window. It was a strenuous task, but she did it anyway. She managed to sneak into the East wing of
The silence that followed the crashing sound of glass shattering as soon as it made contact with the floor was deafening. For a moment, everyone was frozen to their spots, mouth agape. When they all finally snapped out of their daze, the queen rose to her feet with her eyes burning with anger. Her gorgeous light blue dress had wine stains on it and the silverish- blue liquid that was also now staining the previously spotless marble floor was proof that the glass shards had injured her. The king rose to his feet, knowing that his wife was about to do some real damage to his daughter-in-law."Clarice, calm down. It was an accident. Right, Hazel?" the king said and Hazel nodded, her eyes glinting mischievously. Prince Caden's gaze met Hazel's and he frowned when he realized that there was nothing remorseful about her. If anything, she looked like she had hurt the queen on purpose."Hazel, apologize to my mother, wil
Anslem, Rubian Capital2030 The triplets exchanged bewildered glances. "How do we know you're not lying?" Trey asked, his eyes narrowed. Yuka let out an exasperated sigh and using his mind's eye, he displayed what was going on outside, on the wall of General Spiers study, like a projector.Eight men were trying to break into the front door of their apartment. General Spiers immediately went pale. Now, do you believe me?" Yuka asked. "What's going on? Why are we suddenly being attacked?" Trey asked."There's no time for questions. It's a life or death situation and if you want to survive, you have to come with me" Yuka said."To where?" Carl asked."Galactica. You'll be safe there" "There's no way I'm going to Galactica! We might be jumping from the pan to the fire itself!" Carl said and General Spiers shook his head. "Listen, if the queen has placed a kill order on us, the only place we can be safe is Galactica" he said to his sons. "But-""Make your decisions quickly because the
Queen Clarice stood behind one of her guards as she waited in front of the door to Yuka's chamber. This was the first time in eight years since she was stepping into the East wing. This time, she was even more upset than she'd been, the last time she'd decided to make her way to the East wing. Apparently, Yuka had bitten off more than he could chew. She couldn't believe that Hazel had suddenly gotten lucky. There was absolutely no way Hazel would be able to rebel against her unless she had someone to support her, a back up. There was no one more perfect for the job than the black blood himself. "My queen, he isn't responding" the guard who had been knocking on the door for the past two minutes said, an apologetic look on his face. "Disrupt the magic that is holding the door locked in place" the queen ordered and the rest of the guards instantly prepared to carry out the Queen's order. But just before they could execute it, someone tsked from behind them. "I don't think that is a g
When the duo got to the sparring arena, they found Tyr, Charlotte and Nazu. After they greeted the crown prince, Charlotte was asked to spar with Nazu. Charlotte managed to punch Nazu on the face, hard enough to make her bleed silver. Nazu wouldn't have it; she retaliated even more violently and by the end of their sparring session, Charlotte had a bruised kidney, a fractured wrist, a broken nose and a few bruised ribs. Hazel rushed to her friend and helped her out of the sparring arena. Charlotte was a mess. She kept crying, both from the pain and the humiliation. "She wouldn't stop, not even when I surrendered" she sobbed into Hazel's arms. "Maybe, I'm not worth it. Maybe, I'm just not fit for all of this" "Please, Charlotte. Don't give up because of some Silveran bitch. Promise me you won't give up" Hazel said and Charlotte shook her head. "I don't know-""You can't give her the satisfaction of winning"Charlotte's bloodshot gaze fell on Nazu who had an arrogant smirk on her fac
Jotham, Silveran capital.2030 Sitting on the roof of the palace was the second prince of Silvera, Yuka. The sun was just starting to sink below the horizon with a mixture of violet, pink and orange beautifying the evening sky. The cool breeze ruffled the prince's unbound hair. His violet eyes were almost hidden by the silky curtain of black and red strands of his shoulder-length hair. He gazed at the evening sky, a certain air of serenity resting on him. All of a sudden, the quietness of the environment was disrupted by the heavy thud of boots coming in contact with the rooftop. Yuka didn't need to turn around to know who the intruder was. He could already feel the intruder's magic. It was very familiar to him because he had been threatened by it, several times. Closing his eyes, he clenched his fist. "Why are you here?" He asked, without looking at the intruder who was no other person than prince Caden, the crown prince of Silvera. Dressed in a silver tunic and black boots, Caden'
