Chapter Twelve

Riley flopped on Leah’s couch, exhausted from her photoshoot sessions. “These guys can drink your blood without mercy, “ she grumbled, took off her glasses and exhaled.

“No wine?” she asked Leah.

Leah stared at her. Riley could be insensitive when she wanted to be sometimes. Leah had texted her and asked her to come over, that it was pretty urgent, and her she was, relaxed and feigning exhaustion.

“There is a reason for that text, Riley,” Leah said.

“Oh yeah,” Riley sat up. “The text…what’s up, girl?”

“What were you doing at a coffee café in downtown…with Emma of all people?”

A flicker of shock flashed in Riley’s eyes, but it was gone before Leah could catch it. How the hell did Leah know about that meeting? Riley thought to herself.

She had been as discreet as possible, which was why she had chosen a godforsaken coffee café where she would not easily be noticed. Or had Emma gone ahead and announced it to someone?

The stupid bitch!

She should know that news travel faster than a jet,
