Conflict of interest
Carmen stared into the eyes of everyone in the room, and in that instant, her mind got crowded about what they might be thinking about her.
A situation like this has always been her deepest fear, and seeing such a nightmare come true had her traumatized.
Mrs. Smith felt more enraged by the second as she waited for Liam to break the silence in the room and answer her question.
“Yes. But I feel truly sorry towards my wife that I did such a thing to her,” Liam said.
“How dare you!” Mrs. Smith screamed as she raised her hand.
“Mom!” Carmen cried.
She then rushed in front of Liam and her mother's vicious slap, and Mrs. Smith palm hit hard against her cheek, leaving a terrible bruise on her skin.
The whispering in the hallway grew louder by the second as everyone gazed in shock.
“Carmen, I am so sorry.” Mrs. Smith cried while her hands trembled.
