Jenna POV “What did they say to you, Jenna?” Adam asks as he and Sam walk up to me. I look at them after watching the three women walk away snickering. “Nothing I can’t handle,” I say to them both. “Jenna, they can’t disrespect their Luna and get away with it,” Adam says trying to encourage me to share what had been said. “It’s fine; if it becomes a problem, I will let you know,” I promise him. He looks at me and I can tell he and Sam are mind-linking. Whatever they do, I hope they don’t make it worse. I am hoping to let it go until I better understand what I have apparently done to piss off Pack members so soon upon my arrival. I knew I could play the role of bitch pretty good, but I usually saved that for those who deserved it. Smiling up at Adam, I shake off the interaction and focus on him. “Are you joining us for breakfast?” I ask Sam. He smirks, “Uh no, I don’t think that is in my plans,” he replies while Adam jumps in, “He has Pack
Jenna POV Doctor Matthews is very engaging and informative. The hospital offers a variety of areas to specialize if a doctor so chooses. They may also generalize, which has been of interest to me as well. Having a small practice might be the ideal option, as opposed to working mainstream medicine. The exciting thing is they are looking for an intern. Their package is competitive to what I was currently offered, and the work hours would be similar to what Doctor Matthews works, as he is the supervisor for the role. It is amazing how things just fell into place. Perfect, almost too perfect. It made me wonder if Adam had something to do with it being too perfect. I would be checking with him before I accepted any offer they may make. When we were finished discussing the hospital and all it had to offer, Doctor Matthews returned me to the administration area so I could meet up with Adam. Adam was just leaving Josie’s office and if I did not k
Adam POV Wanting my trackers to hunt down the rogue, I could only focus on the confusion and chaos surrounding me. While wolfsbane would not be lethal in small doses, we could not be certain what had been tossed at me was solely wolfsbane. I could feel some effects of silver in the mix. Sam and another warrior carried me toward the Pack house, getting the doctor on alert to meet us when we arrived. With wolfsbane, I would not be able to shift; if silver was a part of the concoction, I would experience further damage. Both would impact my wolf, Jake. I was thinking of Jenna during this time wanting to make sure was alright. I could not mind-link anyone in my Pack and not being able to speak was causing me increased stress and agitation. Trying to get Sam’s attention was impossible. He was focused on getting his Alpha the medical attention he needed. And the other warriors had remained at the border, hopefully getting the trackers after the
Adam POV “Who is working with the rogues? And is there a traitor among us?” I asked the group surrounding me. Jenna had little awareness of the Packs in our alliances so she would not be able to help us identify potential threats. But she would likely be able to tell us what looked more suspicious than us. Particularly since she was looking from the outside of the puzzle. “What is going on in here?” Doctor Rivers asked startling all of us. Suddenly realizing that my speedy healing would be perceived as nothing short of a miracle, Jenna sits up as quickly as she can with a smile. “Must be that strong mate bond, Doctor Rivers,” she says. He looks at all of us suspiciously. “I have never experienced anyone coming around that quickly,” he says as he continues to stare at us. Moving forward slowly, he checks my vitals and sighs. “I don’t suppose you are going to tell me what really happened?” he asks. We look at him confused. “I realize I ma
Jenna POV I was up and mobile early the next morning. I was excited to see the contract offer. I waited impatiently for it and finally decided I better go eat before I missed breakfast. I walked out of my room, heading down the stairs. I see Sam walking out of his room, meeting me on the stairs. “What are you doing up so early?” he says to me. Looking at him with my eyebrows raised, “I should be asking you how come you are so late getting up?” I say to him with a smirk. Laughing, “Okay you got me. I may have had some company last night,” he says with a bit of color on his cheeks. Shaking my head, “You and Jack better be careful. Mates do not like to know their significant other has been with Pack members,” I say to him playfully. Sam looks at me with an odd look on his face before agreeing with my analysis. “You could be right about that, Jenna; we will have to tone it down in case we meet our mates,” he says. “Although we haven’t found
Jenna POV I was going to be late for my coffee date if I did not hurry. I had noticed the Pack door open as I swung out of the parking lot but did not slow down otherwise, I would definitely be late. It was quickly after that I saw a car pull out and speed up to catch up to me. Realizing Adam must have had a warrior follow me for protection detail I shook my head. I should not have been so lost in my reading and considered he would want to know where I was going. This was the disadvantage of not having the option to mind-link one another. Speaking of my research, what I had learned so far had been minimal. I would have to share the details with Adam sooner than later. I needed to find other research materials before I could come to any conclusions. The history books do indicate that rogues have, in the past, attacked the healer for their own benefits but what those benefits are is still a mystery. It is also clear that the healer, if not p
Jenna POV I got home and reviewed the contract in great detail. I could not believe the offer. It was better than what I had been offered originally at my old hospital. I say old because there is no way I can refuse this offer. I have the chance to specialize in various areas, including surgery. The salary compensation is comparable, and I will have my own patients whom I will oversee, with Doctor Matthews input, of course. I was not a full-fledged doctor yet, but I was being given the opportunity of a lifetime. I ran down the stairs to see Adam. He, Sam, and Jack were in his office when I burst in. I apologized first and then walked over to where Adam sat at his desk. I showed him the details of the contract, which he agreed were amazing. I then looked at him suspiciously, “Did you have anything to do with this offer?” I ask him. He throws his hands up, “I swear, I did nothing but open a door for you. This is all you,” he promises me.
Jenna POV Adam and I spent the next couple of days planning the Luna ceremony. From the catering, which we agreed on outsourcing so that the Omegas could attend the ceremony without having to worry about preparing food or serving. To the event itself – it will be semi-formal for those attending. Adam and I will be in formal outfits for the event. We have a photographer coming to get pictures, which excites me. I would love to have a nice picture of Adam and I to frame for our first official event. We have also sent out invitations to those Packs within the alliance. Elders have been invited and the Pack itself, of course, was invited. Adam has some reservations about inviting those in the alliance. Until we can understand what is going on with the rogues and who might be supporting them, he is reluctant to have many in attendance. But as I reminded him, better to keep people close and observe them in our environment versus their own environment.
