“A – Alpha Cahir –“ I’d never seen a man this big look this terrified before. A sturdy, heavy-built man walked towards us with a stooped gait and his hands clasped behind him. Sweat soaked the collar of his shirt and he looked everywhere except at Cahir who he was addressing.“You are?” My mate asked in a gravel voice that had the man taking a step back.“I’m Alpha Matthew, the manager of the hotel. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He held out his shaky, sweat-soaked hands to Cahir who looked at the hand for a second and then looked back up at the sweating man.“You’re too late.” Cold pricked my skin from his icy tone.“A – Alpha, excuse our insufficient and lack – lack of foresight. We should have provided the madam with adequate – adequate security. Please – punish me, not - not my poor staff.”“I’ll punish you, all right.” The man jerked back, raising his head a fraction before hunching over again. “You and everyone in this pack.”“S – Sir, please –““I wasn’t born yesterday. Your Alph
I was happy but I didn’t think Cahir was impressed. Who knew something as simple as ice cream could make me feel this way? After I went through a tub of ice cream while Cahir watched, he asked if I wanted more. He shouldn’t have because I knew I shouldn’t have more but it didn’t stop me from wanting more. With his prompt, I decided to have a cone which I carried along with me as he got some clothes to change into. After we visited two stores and couldn’t find anything that fit his taste, he started to get huffy. Unfortunately, this was an island and because of their festival most shops were closed and the ones open catered to tourists. They stocked colourful attires. There were very few suits on display but none fit him– well, there was one but it was a bright lemon that made him flinch. No dress shirts, no black trousers and thus nothing of his taste. I’d been nursing my ice cream but it was starting to melt and create a mess but it pained me to see it go.“You can get another one.”
“You did good,” Cahir commended as we entered our luxury suite. “You think?” If I had a tail, it’d be wagging but no matter how much I tried to hold back my happiness, it couldn’t be helped. The part of me that was starved of affection and validation surfaced despite how I tried to hide it.“Your smile is pretty.” An unfamiliar warmth spread through me, and then that fluttering in my stomach started back up.“T – Thank you.” I ducked my head for no apparent reason but then I raised it back up, feeling ridiculous.“I should make you smile more often,” he muttered to himself but those words made meblush even more. “Now you see I am not useless, after all.” The words slipped from my mouth with no thoughts as I tried to understand why I felt like hiding behind my hair from what he said.I was deep in thought when I noticed the uncomfortable silence in the room and felt a gaze piercing my face. Raising my head and pushing my hair from my face, I met Cahir’s eyes boring into me.“Who said
I was surfing on a cloud. Life couldn’t be better. My vacation turned out better than I expected. Who would have thought that the person I was running from would be the same person to make the vacation worth it?“This will be your first bargain,” Cahir reminded me. As if I could forget. It was time for me to cash in on Alpha Malachi’s blank check. I’d prefer to wait until the end of our vacation but delaying things would make me look indecisive and that was not a good look for me.“Yes, and I’m buying up shares in the FT Hotels. And because an attack against me is an attack against my pack, Alpha Blood has to receive something,” I replied.“Foreigners can’t own more than one percent share of FTH but we’re going for twenty. Start as high as you can but don’t go lower than twenty,” Cahir advised. “Entering their market with Wolf’s bane is a bargain they may not accept but pitch it anyway.” I nodded at his advice. I hoped not to fuck it up but as Cahir said, I had nothing to lose.“Luna
*CAHIR*"You're doing it again," Perseus said while I worked."What am I doing?" Without Aristo, there was an even larger backlog of work to be dealt with. Who even knew where that bastard was?"You every minute asshole," Perseus said. "And worrying our mate. Isn't it better to tell her what's wrong?""What's wrong?" I wished the mutt would shut up but my wolf was an inner voice that could not be silenced."Are you going to pretend you haven't reverted to being standoffish since we returned? You're going to make her misunderstand us again and who knows, maybe when she leaves this time, we won't be able to find her!" He shouted, his patience running thin."Darn it!" I pushed away from my desk, feeling my head ache from all the things flying through my mind at the same time.I wasn't even sure why I felt this way but I did. After so many years, I was supposed to get over this insane feeling but Alpha Blood still put a bad taste on my tongue. The taste became unnoticeable after a while b
I wasn’t lying when I said I asked Aristo to return to the pack. Although I wasn’t sure I had the authority to undo Cahir’s command, I realized I had sat back and watched for too long and Cahir, it seemed, wasn’t someone I could let continue to do as he pleased. He was an Alpha, he was used to people doing as he asked them to but I didn’t want to live like that.Someone had to take the first step in this relationship and I had been too scared to do it all along, expecting to receive the same hatred I had received all my life but this time, since our misunderstandings had been cleared up, I should at least try.“Sihana –“ He started in a grave voice. An unfamiliar expression flickered in his eyes as I stood facing him with my hands on my hips. I swallowed, feeling heat at the back of my neck from the heaviness of his gaze.“Cahir – I –“ My hands shook so I lifted them from my hips and crossed them underneath my chest. “On the island, it was the first time since I felt – somewhat close
I swallowed. The signs were there but it was impossible to imagine an Alpha hating a pack he sacrificed his blood and sweat to protect. His pack. His home. His people.“Don’t look so surprised.” He laughed but the sound had no shred of humour in it. “The air in this land makes my skin crawl. I hate it.”“Is that – Is that –“ I stuttered. I pressed him so much for what was going on with him and now that he opened up, I didn’t know what to say. What do you say to someone who confessed a taboo topic?“I understand,” I said, my vocal cords finally working. “I understand how you feel.” He regarded me with eyes that concealed his emotions.“Do you?” Even his tone was devoid of emotions but it didn’t stop me from nodding.“I don’t know the full details of what happened with Alpha Boston but I know enough to understand.” It was subtle, but I saw him flinch when I mention the name of the dead Alpha. “It’s remarkable that you chose to lead these people despite everything you had to go through.”
“I’ll see you at home,” he said, giving me the sweetest smile I’d ever seen. His lips were red and swollen with his eyes hooded. The expression on his face coupled with his dishevelled hair had to be the most erotic look ever.“O – Okay.” I turned with my head in the clouds and walked out of the office like a robot unable to resist the command.Walking out of the office, one or two people greeted me and I responded from somewhere far in my consciousness. I went down the elevator with the same dazed expression on my face and a blankness in my head.It wasn’t until I got to the lobby that I realized I’d been scammedCahir Armani –I laughed when I realized just what happened. He kissed me so well, so thoroughly that I forgot my mission.“You won this round but you don’t know how persistent I am,” I muttered to myself. It could be called my greatest weakness – I didn’t know when to stop. It was the reason why, despite how cruel Silver Moon treated me, I still persisted for years in my qu
