Chapter 3.1

A woman standing in front of me smiling at me while in her white dress, I can see a familiar face on her. It was her, my mom. But why is she leaving me behind? I wanna run to her, hug her and never let go of her hands anymore, but why can't I move?

"Wemia sweetie, don't forget to use your heart every time. Your heart is the toughest of all, I'll never leave you and I'll always love you sweetie," the last words of my mom echoed and I'm here just standing and I cannot walk. WHY ARE THESE STUPID FEET NOT MOVING!

No! Mom, don't go! don't leave me here, NO!

My alarm rings. I open my eyes immediately and adjust my vision. I'm in bed, sweating and my heart is racing. I touched my face and I can feel a liquid on my cheek, I'm crying again? I wiped it off from my face and turned off the alarm. Why? that dream AGAIN…

I was startled when I heard my phone ring, I looked at the caller. It was Sycanith.

"Anong kailangan mo sa 'kin?" I asked her coldly.

"Hoo! Nilalamig ako, what's with the cold tone?" She asked and I remained silent.

"Ginising ba kita? Or Natakot ka sa 'kin?" She asked and I heard some voices who were laughing.

"What do you need?" I asked and stood up. I walk my way to the Comfort room and brush my teeth. And after that, I walk my way to the kitchen to boil some water.

"Oh ano nah?" Tanong ko sa kanya.

"Sorry natawa lang ako sa mga pinagsasabi ko, eto na talaga. Me and Keeno were thinking if we should go to the club tonight again, so wanna join us?" Tanong niya sa 'kin, making me massage the bridge of my nose.

"No." I simply said and sipped the coffee that I finished making.

*Sige na Wem! You need to have some fun saka sasama sa 'tin ang mga juniors natin, you need to get close to them. Please," sabi niya sa 'kin kaya li-noud speak ko 'yong phone call tsaka linagay ang phone ko sa counter.

"I said no," I said and got the bread pan inside the refrigerator and put a Nutella inside of it.

"Come on Wem! Please come with us, please. Please Wemmy," rinig kong pagmamakaawa ni Sycanith sa phone ko.

"I said no Sy, NO. As in N.O. No!" Sabi ko sa kanya, but she keep whining about it. Kumain na lang ako habang umiinom ng kape.

"If you keep whining I'll end the call," sabi ko sa kanya.

"Hey! Wem, how about I'll get your one night shift and then you agree with it, is that ok right?" rinig kong sabi ng pamilyar na boses sa phone.

"If I said no, then it's a NO KEENO," sabi ko sa kanya at inis na pinatay ang tawag sa inis ko.

Matapos kong kumain ay naligo agad ako para makapag duty agad ako, I arrived at the hospital 8:30 am. Nakita ko agad si Sycanith na nagbabantay ng isang pasyente pagpasok ko ng ER, kaya bigla ako pumunta sa Nurse station para tingnan ang schedule ko.

"Mukhang lumalaki na eyebags mo Doc. ah," I hear nurse Hera say and then some of the nurses also laugh. I was still looking at my schedule, not minding what she said.

"Doc. 31 kana 'di ba? Kailan mo balak mag-asawa?" Gatong ng isang nurse dahilan upang mapatingin ako sa kanya. Mukhang takot naman ito sa biglang pag tingin ko sa kanya, gusto ko sanang ngumiti pero 'di ko na lang ginawa.

"Kung kailan ko gusto, stop gossiping my life and do your work. Baka hindi ka makapasa, kaya focus on your work and study. That's the only advice I could give you," sabi ko at umalis na doon saka sinalubong ang unang pasyente ko ngayong araw. Chinissmisan pa nga ang buhay ko, eh 'yong trabaho niya nga 'di niya magawa ng maayos.

I've been clumsy all day sa kakulitan nina Sy at Keeno, pati nga mga pasyente ko ay nakikisali na rin sa trip ng dalawa. Kunware pinapagalitan nila ako kapag may dumadaan na co-doctor or nurse tapos tatawa sila kapag umalis na 'yong doctor or nurse. Tapos kinukulit pa nila ako para magkamali ako kanina sa mga patients ko, 'yong instead na kukunin ko 'yong MRI niya ay 'yong lab results 'yong nakuha ko making me frustrated. Nandito ako ngayon sa office ko at nagkakape while I'm massaging my head. What the heck is their problem?

I stumbled on my chair when my phone rang, I checked the caller ID. It was UNKNOWN, so I picked it up.

"Hello?" I asked, then nobody answered. Papatayin ko na sana ng may nagsalita.

"So this is your number?" I hear a man's voice. Malalim ang boses niya na parang 'yong boses ni 'corpse husband'.

"Who are you? Scammer? or is this a prank, sorry I'm not in the mood for fun right now," sabi ko dito kaya nakatanggap nalang ako ng tawa galing sa kaniya. How can someone laugh like that? Sh*t! It was breathtaking. So sexy voice who could it be? Now I'm simping on voices again.

"Secret, hindi toh prank neither scam. I just want to hear your voice my doctora," sabi niya sabay tawa kaya kinilabutan ako.

STALKER?

"Y-you—"

"Doc! Emergency!" Hindi na natuloy ang sasabihin ko ng biglang pumasok si Grant sa office ko.

"I'll deal with you later," sabi ko sa phone at in-end ang call saka nilagay ang phone ko sa bulsa ng coat ko.

Agad akong tumakbo papuntang ER, naabutan ko roon ang isang nurse na may sugat nah. Habang ang babae naman ay may hawak na scalpel sa kamay niya kaya agad ko silang linapitan.

"Wem! Don't!" Narinig ko ang sigaw ni Keeno pero 'di ko na 'yon pinansin. I motion my hands in front of my face.

"Ma'am please, we're helping you no matter what. Please calm down, and put that down." Mahinahong sabi ko dito, at dahan-dahang lumalapit sa kaniya. Umusad ako patalikod ng bigla nyang itutok ang scalpel sa direksyon ko.

"Ma'am ibaba niyo na po 'yan," sabi ng isang security dito pero 'di niya pa rin ginawa.

"Sasaktan nila ang anak ko, tutusukin nila siya. Ayokong mawala ang anak ko sa 'kin!" Sigaw ng babae.

"We will never hurt your daughter, we're helping her to survive. Please," sabi ko dito, kaya binaba niya ng kaunti ang scalpel. I motioned my hand to the guard giving a signal "don't do anything and don't even step forward". I approach her slowly while lowering my hands.

"'Wag kayong lalapit! Siya lang!" Sigaw ng babae sa mga nurse at doctors. I saw Keeno also approaching slowly, so I glared at him, making him stop walking forward.

"Akin na po 'yan ma'am," sabi ko sabay lahad ng kamay ko, she slowly placed the handle of the scalpel on my hand and I take it. Kinuha 'yon ng isang nurse sa akin kaya agad kong nilapitan ang babae saka yinakap siya ng mahigpit. Naramdaman kong umiiyak ang babae kaya hinagod ko ang likod nya.

"She's gonna be fine ma'am, why don't we both go to have some coffee and give you some fresh air?" Sabi ko dito. I felt her nodding her head, so I smiled at her.

"Take care of the girl," sabi ko kay Keeno ng madaanan namin siya, he look at me worried and I just smile at him. Pumunta kami sa isang coffee shop malapit sa hospital at umupo doon.

"Sigurado ka bang maging maayos ang anak ko doon?" Tanong ng babae sa 'kin. I hold her hand and smile at her. 

"I'm sure, that's my friend you're talking about. Your daughter is in good hands," sabi ko sa kanya. Maya-maya lang ay dumating na ang kape namin, it's the 3rd time I drank a coffee on this day kaya hindi na ako iinom mamaya.

"Wemmy! Night club tayo mamaya?" The Head of the Neurological Department came and asked me.

"No. I'm busy," sabi ko sa kaniya habang binabasa ang MRI ng pasyente ko.

"Come on! Just come," pamimilit nya sa akin.

"Oh! Check that one on bed 45," sabi ko sa kanya sabay bigay ng MRI ng pasyente ko sa kanya. 

"The patient on room 106 keep complaining about changing her doctor. Doc. Sanchez?" Sabi ni nurse Hera na ngayon ay nasa nurse station na.

"'Wag mong pagbigyan niloloko ka lang niyan, pakana ni Keeno at Sycanith 'yan." Sabi ko dito.

"No it's not their fault! Ni hindi mo nga kayang injectionan ako kanina," galit na sabi ng matandang babae na nasa wheelchair. 

"Ma'am huminahon lang kayo," sabi ng kakarating lang na si Keeno kaya huminahon ang matanda.

"I think you need a break Doc. Sanchez sumama ka na lang kaya kina Sycanith at Keeno mamaya sa club," sabi ni Nurse Hera sa 'kin.

"I won't." I simply said and glared at Sycanith who is now drinking water inside the nurse station.

"I think you really need that Doctora Sanchez, come on! Have some fun!" I heard a man's jolly voice kaya napatingin kami sa kaniya.
