Chapter 2: Welcome to Heather Academy

Atacia's POV:

***

Cassie and I woke up early so we got ready early too. I did my morning rituals then took a bath. After I finished, Cassie followed. I was arranging my bag and her bag when she stepped out of the shower.

"What am I going to wear?" She asked and opened her closet full of jeans, over-sized shirts and hoodies.

"Why don't you wear the witch costume?" I said. Then i felt something soft hit my back. "Why are you always throwing your pillow at me? Do I look like your bed?" I said and stand up straight to look at her and put my hand on my waist.

"When are you going to stop giving me unsensible answers?" She asked and looked at her closet again.

"I don't know. When pigs fly I guess." I said and continued arranging our things. "Hey do you need to bring your pouch?" I asked. She only hummed.

"Girls! Are you up? Come down and eat your breakfast okay?" We heard Aunt Heart said.

"Yes Aunt!" I answered. When I looked at my bag, my eyes widened when the handle was so wet.

"Holy moly." i whispered and tried to dry it but it only got worse.

"Argh stupid powers!" I whispered and messed my hair. Yes. I have powers. Cool? No. It's very stressful like I just touched something, I'll accidentaly freeze or make it float. Goodness!

I hid the wet handle when Cassie went out of the bathroom wearing a jumper.

"What's going on?" She asked. I shaked my head.

"Nothing." I said and gave her an akward smile. She slowly nod and took her comb.

"Let's go." She said and went out our room.

Downstairs we had our food ready. Aunt Heart and Uncle David were also there eating their breakfast. We went there to eat our food. We can’t eat the utensils, right? I'm just kidding.

“Oh, the girls are here too. Come and eat.” Uncle David invited us.

Cassie and I sat down We shouldn’t stand while eating, right? We are not fools to torture ourselves. I'm just kidding again haha.

We ate quietly. No one dared to speak. Until we finished eating. We had a peaceful breakfast. Suddenly, Aunt Heart spoke.

“Your mom called earlier. She said your allowance good for 1 week is in your bank account. You could just withdraw it.” Aunt Heart said while she was washing the plates that we used, I offered her my help but she kindly declined it.

“Oh, okay. Uhm can I ask? Do you know an ATM machine near our school?” I asked while waiting for Cassie.

“Oh, yes darling. It’s just in front of your school.” She said. I nodded. And everything fell silent again.

We’re now here in front of Heather Academy. It’s a weird name, right? I thought so too.

After I withdrew my allowance, me and Cassie entered the school gate. We we're greeted by the students, wearing...a cloak.

“Why do you think it’s named Heather Academy? And why do you think they're wearing cloaks?” Cassie asked as she hung her arm around mine.

“Why are you asking me? Am I the one who built it? Also, why are you asking me their clothes? I don't know.” I was philosophizing with her. I just laughed when I saw the look on her face. Pfft.

“Why did I even expect to get a sensible answer from you?” She said and rolled her eyes. Instead of answering her, I looked around.

We we’re looking for the principal’s office when someone approached us. Her skin color is white and maybe her age is between 30-40.

“Are you Ms. Montreal and Ms. Santos?” She asked us, a smile is plastered on her face. Her voice is so soft and gentle.

“We are.” We said in unison. Her smile widened.

“Oh, good morning to the both of you. I’m Anthea Madrigal, the principal of Heather Academy. Welcome.  She introduced herself. "Please follow me to my office. So I could give you your things.” She added. She turned around and started to walk. Cassie and I just looked at each other before nodding at the same time.

We followed Ms. Madrigal to her office. And when we entered, we were immediately amazed at what we saw.

Goodness! Her office is so beautiful! From the bookshelves to the carpets. Everything’s beautiful! You could see the clear sky from the window. Brown painted walls. We stopped looking around and looked back at Ms. Madrigal

“These are your schedules and your uniforms. Also, the keys for your dorm. I believe you’re aware that this school is a boarding school, right?” Said Ms. Madrigal.

“Yes, ma’am.” I said. Yes, you read it correctly. This is a boarding school. Me and Cassie will sleep together in the same room. Cool, right?

“Okay then, you can now go to your classes. I’ll just send your things to your dorm.” She said that made us confuse.

“I have a question. We didn’t bring anything with us beside our books. Can we still go home later and take it with us tomorrow?” I asked.

She just laughed. And to be honest, her laugh was horrible and creepy.

“So, you’re not aware that once you entered the campus, you can’t go out now? HAHAHA! Your belongings are here already. Your parents sent them a few days ago.” She said with a creepy smile plastered on her face.

“O-oh really? Ok-okay then we’re going to take our leave.” Cassie stammered. I could also feel the trembling of her hands. I held it tightly to calm her down.

We turned around and head towards the door. I told her to go out first then I followed. Before I could leave, Ms. Madrigal suddenly spoke.

“Don’t let your friend get hurt. Don’t go out at night. There’s a war going on.” She said seriously.

My gentle face was replaced by a cold and serious face.

“I will never let that happen. You will go first before my friend.” I said in a cold voice that made her smile. I turned my heel on her and walked out of the room. I composed myself first before walking towards Cassie.

“Let’s go Cass. We might be late.” I told her. She was staring at something. Shock, worry, and fright can be read in her eyes. When I looked at what she was looking at, my eyes widened. I also stared at it with horror.

Clouds of questions are starting to form inside my mind. My heart beats like crazy because of nervousness. Not for my self, but for Cassie.

How did that get there?!
