Book 2 Chapter 8

The sun had set on Rome. Hector was anxious. His captive was comfortably seated on a couch across the room from him. For a kid that grew up on he streets Jacob seemed learned, this made Hector cautious around the boy.

"Lord Hector I recommend you calm down. I'm sure Krista will be fine." The boy said as he examined a trinket on the table. "Although I must admit I am surprised at the concern you've shown for Krista. I've not known a master to care so much about his spy."

Hector looked at the boy, trying to pick up any signs of him realizing who Krista actually was.

"I care for the safety of all my staff." Hector replied flatly.

"If I may speak so boldly sir?" Jacob asked in a tone that Hector was not sure if the boy was mocking him.

Hector looked at him and nodded.

"I almost thought that she was your.... Errr... Woman of comfort." Jacob said.
