Her Fiancé

I observed as Elijah stormed out of the room, his jaw tightly clenched and his hands tightly balled into fists. I was well aware that I had made a mistake, but I couldn't simply let him leave without attempting to clarify myself.

"Sweetheart, please wait!" I called out to him, but he didn't even bother to glance back at me. I let out a sigh and turned towards my son, Marco, who was lying in bed. I couldn't leave him alone.

"Mom, just let him go. Leave him be," Marco advised me.

"Marco, sweetheart, I really need to talk to your Daddy Elijah," I pleaded, hoping to make him understand.

However, he simply stared off into space, not acknowledging my words. A pang of guilt struck my chest. My thoughtless words had caused Elijah so much pain.

I sat down on the edge of Marco's bed and gently held his hand in mine. "I'm sorry, my love. You can go back to sleep now and relax," I reassured him.
