42 For the pack

I spent the night next to Duncan, then skipped breakfast, and started my day in my office. Nobody seemed to mind they had to come here instead of Duncan’s, and I felt more comfortable here.

I listened to the patrol reports, all along fighting my usual morning sickness, till Emma sneaked in with a cup of herb tea, saving me from the embarrassment of throwing up in front of our warriors.

“Once again, it seems too peaceful,” I commented when everyone left.

“And this time, we should be grateful,” Noah added.

He returned to duty this morning, just as Marissa said he would. All I managed to do was make him sit on the couch and put his injured leg up.

Not that I wasn’t happy to have him back, but I was worried about him.

“You might not feel like it, Luna, but we won,” he said, studying my face. “We killed many of their warriors, so they are probably regrouping somewhere.”

“And they will return even stronger,” I sighed.

I love Moira and Duncan so much. I love the pure, scandal-free relationship they share. Life and love can be interesting in so many ways, and scandal and betrayal doesn’t always have to be front stage. I read a lot of these books and I appreciate the purity and sincere happiness of this story.
