CHAPTER 47

Suzie POV

Mindy's face grew more red as she continued to cry. If she was anything like me, Mindy was crying because she missed our family.

"Shh," I whispered as she pushed away her bottle of apple juice. She'd been crying for the past hour and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what she wanted.

Even though today seemed to move slower than any other, the darkness had finally taken over the cramped space under the trailer. It wasn't exactly comfortable, but our choices were limited to this grimy area or the close quarters of the cellar. At least under the trailer, we could hear what was coming and defend ourselves.

"Let me see if I can calm her down, Su." Celia sent me a reassuring grin in the dim lantern light, reaching for Mindy.

I didn't want to hand her over, but I didn't know what else to do. If the zombies hadn't heard Mindy yet, it was only a matter of time.
