Guilt

James and Catherine Reynolds sat in their dimly lit bedroom, the weight of the past few weeks pressing heavily on their shoulders. The atmosphere was thick with worry and guilt, a stark contrast to the usual warmth of their home.

James sighed deeply, running a hand through his greying hair. “I can’t believe it’s come to this, Catherine. Our son... how did we not see this coming?”

Catherine, her eyes red and swollen from days of crying, shook her head slowly. “I don’t know, James. I just don’t know. We’ve done everything we could think of—consulted medical professionals, talked to the authorities. And now they say Jason might need to be committed to a psychiatric hospital.”

James looked away, his eyes hardening with a mixture of anger and sorrow. “That’s if they even find him. He’s completely disappeared. I’ve had to temporarily take over all his businesses and companies. The board is in chaos, and the media... they’re having a field day.”
