Ciaran's Point of View
Eugene had gone ghostly white. Alvara watched him keenly, those doe eyes never missing a detail. For a second, it looked like Eugene might not answer. His eyes flitted between Alvara and I. Then to Maverick and Dargan. He weighed his options. Chose his next words carefully.
"I thought you said you hadn't stolen anyone from me, Ciaran. Have we resorted to lying now?" Eugene mused, settling his gaze on me. Alvara's shoulders stiffened. Yet her innocent façade still lingered.
'Was it truly a façade?'
"Why are you speaking to him when I am the one who asked you something?" Alvara questioned him. Her tone was blunt. To the bone. Uncaring.
Eugene shook his head at her question. He couldn't believe she would confront him. Question him in front of everyone. What exactly had Angelique told him about the day Alvara left?
