Tuesday morning was a complete mess. Maids ran in and out of every room in the house. Cleaned every surface until it sparkled. Washed every dish three times over so that the porcelain squeaked from cleanliness. Secured flowers by the dozens for the day. Gardeners were fiercely trimming any plant that grew to be too unruly. Mowed the lawn with precision. As if the royal family was coming in for tea and not just our guests for the coming party.
