chapter 6

Camille got up at lightning speed and grabbed the vase before she hit him hard on the face. Blood gushed out of his forehead as Boris staggered to stay upright. Camille didn't stop but hit him repeatedly, her heart filled with rage till he had dropped to the floor with a thud, his entire body filled with blood.

Camille wailed in frustration before she dropped the broken piece of glass that remained on her hand. Coming back to her senses, she jumped back in fright as her eyes stared at her blood stained fingers. She began to shake uncontrollably, her legs feeling so weak that she slumbered to the floor.

A knock came in through the door before one of the men's worried voice called for the boss.

Camille quickly got herself up and headed for the window. She couldn't escape, they were on the third floor.

The knock on the door had become so vigorous before they had had tried the push it opened.

Tears and blood filled her face and body, she looked more like the devil trying to find her escape.

The door opened with one final blow as two of Boris' men budged in.

" What the hell did you do?" On of the men asked and rushed to Boris who was lying on the floor unresponsive.

Camille leaned on the wall at a corner as she shook uncontrollably, her lips quivering in fear.

The man checked for his pulse.

" He is dead," the man said.

The other guy took two quick steps towards Camille before he grabbed her by the collar.

" You stupid little slut, you killed him. You deserve to die." The man said before he dragged Camille out amidst her protests.

" I didn't mean to kill him, please believe me. You know that he wanted the rape me," Camille begged out for mercy as she was being dragged through the long hallway. All these however fell on deaf years as she struggled to break free from his clutches.

The man, Emman stayed behind and made a call.

" Sir, I'm afraid I bear bad news for you," Emman said immediately the call got received.

Silence followed on the line before he continued.

" I'm afraid Boris is no more, a girl he recently married killed him," Emman reported.

" You know what to do," the cold voice sounded before the line went dead.

Seconds later a police siren filled the quiet night before Camille was whisked away into the police car, her hands and clothes filled with the incriminating evidence of the murder she just committed.

The night was finally calm, but at Dantez mansion, a room was suffocating with the wrath of one man who drowned his anger in whiskey. Two bottles lay on the table and the third one was underway.

His men must have known that he couldn't take the betrayal and had tried to delay him in acquiring the footage. But now that it was within his grasp, he had to deal with them according.

Eliot shook his head slightly as though ridding himself of the alcohol before he tapped onto his computer. His fingers danced on the keyboard for almost half an hour before he had closed it with a bang.

A sly smile crept up his lips before he got up and headed for his room. By the time he got to bed it was just ten minutes to four.

In the meantime, Camille had been dropped into a cold dirty room in the middle of the night. She couldn't see anything in the dark room and knew that someone was in it since she had bumped into a body. She quietly found her way to a corner careful not to wake up the person she had stepped on to awaken their fury.

She stayed hurdled at a corner as her body shook violently from cold and the reality that she had killed someone. She had eventually drifted into sleep just before a familiar voice woke her up from sleep.

" Camille!....what happened to you dear, what are you doing here?" Dorca asked as she shook Camille hard waking her up.

" Mom...." Camille called as she opened her heavy eyes. She immediately began to cry as her mother moved closer and helped her lean on her shoulder.

" I killed him mom...I couldn't let him touch me," Camille said as sho continued to sob.

" I'm so sorry my child, I shouldn't have caused you all these, please forgive me," Dorca said in a regretful tone. She had caused her entire family to be broken just because of wealth and status.

" But mother, why are you here?" Camille asked after she calmed down.

" It's because of that step sister of yours. Her husband filled assault charges against me. I haven't even been tried in court. He made sure no one was able to see me nor bail me out," Dorca explained.

" What! But dad, didn't he talk to him? Can't he release you from here," Camille said.

" I haven't heard from your dad since that day. I doubt he cares about the fact that I'm here. He only cares about Samantha," Dorca said.

" How are we going to get out of here mother? I can't believe dad did nothing but let you rot in here," Camille said.

" We can only be saved through a miracle my child. For how long, I don't know," Dorca said as she sat next to Camille and leaned on the cold wall. All her clothes were dirty, her hair unkempt, and looking at her daughter, she wasn't any different. Several red marks were all over her body, and the dried blood still plastered on her made made her look like a demon. The two women stayed quiet even as they waited for their fate.

The next morning, Samantha had woken up feeling better. Her joints weren't as painful as before. She got out of bed only to notice the bandages around her arm and leg. She tried to recall when she had them fixed and could tell that it had been done while in her sleep.

On the table there was various drugs. Samantha couldn't help but wonder what had gotten into her husband's head.

Even so she got up, washed her face and walked into her closet to pick a dress to wear. Carmen had helped arrange the few clothes she had.

Samantha wondered when she would get new clothes. The ones she had were already overworn. But all the same, she picked up a fitting dress that she liked most and stepped out.

She was sure Eliot was already gone to work as usual and didn't mind walking around in the dress that covered only her essentials. Her stomach was on fire having eaten nothing for close to two days.

She hurried to the kitchen hopeful to find Carmen. She however stopped in her tracks right at the kitchen door when her eyes landed on the neatly dressed man on the dining table having his breakfast.

It was as though he had noticed her presence as he raised his head immediately and glanced at her.

Eliots eyes swept up her body, taking in her entire body, her thighs that were exposed, the little red marks here and there, and finally up her boobs. Her nipples had hardened due to the fright of him staring hard at her

Samantha felt as though she would dig up a grave and disappear into it. Her legs refused to move as the man's hard stare never left her.

Mastering her courage, she bowed slightly before she took a step to head into the kitchen.

" Come join me," She heard him say making her heart beat erratically.

She still couldn't believe it, that she was married to such a handsome and seemingly powerful man. Samantha felt so small before him, and the fact that they hadn't spoken for a while made her feel awkward.

Samantha walked timidly and sat on the opposite side of the large table.

She saw him smirk before he picked up sausage from his plate and ate.

Samantha swallowed hard. He didn't seem to want to push the bowl to her. Everything was right infront of him.

Carmen walked in and headed to the table to help serve Samantha.

" Carmen I guess you have something to do, my wife and I are doing alright," Eliot said. His head was lowered as he fixed his eyes on the plate.

Carmen excused herself and left immediately.

" Please serve yourself while it's still warm," Eliot said.

Samantha couldn't do anything but get up to serve herself.

" You can have the seat next to mine," Eliot said as he poured himself hot coffee. He poured another cup and placed it right next to him.

Samantha obediently sat next to him. Immediately his sweet cologne filled her nostrils. She wanted so much to ask him all about it, but she couldn't utter a single word.

" How are you feeling today?" Eliot asked.

" I'm alright I guess, I doesn't hurt that much," Samantha replied.

Her hunger pangs were getting much worse and she decided not to care anymore. She immediately served herself and began eating.

Eliot creased his brow as he watched her eat as though she had been starved.

" Take it slow, you might choke," Eliot said.

Immediately Samantha began to cough uncontrollably. She just realized that he'd been watching her all these while.

Eliot helped her with a glass of water before he wiped his mouth with a towel.

" I'm headed to work. Please make yourself comfortable. Should you need anything just call me," Eliot said and stood up and was already out of the door.

" I don't even have your number," Samantha complained to herself. She however turned to her food to have her fill.

On the wall clock, it was just few minutes to eight. Samantha couldn't help but wonder the kind of job her husband did, it was surely late for an employee.

At Starlight entertainment company, the whole building was in chaos as phones rang constantly. Several investors were calling to pull out their investment, and the stock prices had dropped significantly.

Adrian had just arrived in office after receiving such disturbing news.

Inside his office he had shouted at his assistant and secretary to find out what the hell was happening. Adrian sat on his chair, his head spinning with worry.

It was at that moment that Reeda's call came through.

" Adrian, where are you? I'm already at the airport," Reeda complained.

" Don't you know what's going on at the company? Just give me a break Reeda, I have no time for this," Adrian said.

" Are you really serious right now Adrian. For how long are you intending to do this to me. Ever since that day of the wedding, you've been trying to avoid me, and now of all the days you have an excuse," Reeda yelled angrily.

" You must as well take it however you like it, but right now I don't have time for this," Adrian said and disconnected the call before he cursed loudly.

" Adrian... Adrian are you still there?" Reeda asked but the beeping sound confirmed it to her, Adrian decided to abandon her the very last minute.

Reeda couldn't believe that Adrian to give an excuse just when their wedding was happening in a day's time. No, Adrian can't do that to her. Reeda quickly got inside her car and drove off from the airport.
