Chapter 2 The Man of ManHannah.

Everybody looks patiently waiting in the conference room. Some are chatting, some are sitting eyes pinning to the door.

"Come sit beside me Bec, have you grabbed a coffee on the way here?

Sierra uttered tapping me on the shoulders, getting my attention because I was looking at the door all this time.

I looked at Sierra and replied,

"No, there was a bit of a situation in the elevator this morning, tell you later."

I'm sure Sierra would love to hear about the incident this morning, she loves hearing stories about males, hot ones in particular.

Rina, our editor-in-chief, looked so sharp as always. She looks like a typical career woman physically I must say but she has a brilliant mind, she has been my mentor from the beginning.

"Please welcome Mr Reid Alonzo Manhannah"

Rina loudly said, showing her good smile.

Everyone's eyes started to look for the man standing in front of us owning that said name.

"Thank you Rina for the warm welcome and to all of you in here, as you know I will be the one who is responsible for running ManHannah creative firm and design starting today moving forward, I want all the support I can get to maintain the high reputation of this Company that my father and grandfathers established."

Applause sounded in the room.

He is so composed while talking,  his brown eyes looking at me. A man so dignified yet I feel a little cold with the stares. This conference room is so spacious but why do I feel it's just the two of us here?

"Becca Dela Vine, She is one of our Seniors here Sir" echoing Rina's voice I came back to my senses.

"Oh, you? the girl on the elevator right?" he said casually as if he knew me, his face lifted a bit.

I tried to calm my urge to not sound bothered,

"You can call me Becca Sir."

no no no, the same bossy guy in the elevator turns out to be my new boss and I told him not so long ago to mind his own business, How unlucky.

Now I'm more than bothered, will he fire me in front of all these people? Will he shout and get mad because of our situation in the elevator this morning?

"Hmm Rina said the same thing, I expect highly from you Becca,"

he replied, trying to question me.

How long have you been working here? Expertise?"

he added,

Becca calm yourself you need this job reminding my inner being before responding.

"Well 4 years, I'm in charge of writing our bestsellers novels whether for print or online distribution, also I'm the head of the SCWLG, I replied professionally.

"SCWLG?" He answered with the same questioning voice.

I didn't hesitate to reply. This gorgeous-looking man won't intimidate me, I will make sure he will not get the upper hand.

"Senior creative writers leaders group,

Sir, it is merely the team who handles concept making and pitching the next project to write" I said informatively.

"I see, you're smart I like that"

he said praising me, with the look on his face I saw the sarcasm.

"she is one of the best we got Sir Reid"

Rina butting in, backing me up.

"Really, where have you been all my life, Becca?"

he utters the words while staring at me intimately.

"Excuse me!" I almost shouted.

I have no time to deal with this man right now. I can't seem to calculate his actions for the least. His good-looking face keeps distracting me from acting normal in front of these people.

He just smiled at me saying,

"Feisty, relax Becca I'm not going to bite you."

What a total jerk, here it goes again with the switching of facial expressions, after making me feel so dumb, trying to compliment me won't change my bad impression of you.

I said to myself with a wave of brief anger.

"That would be all for this meeting, everyone gets back to work."

Rina said, ending the conversation. Everybody started to step out of the conference room.

Oh dear heavens, do I have to spend my days like this from now on? I need to pull myself together.

"What was that all about Bec?"

Sierra curiously asked, I want to tell her this instant to finally vent out why this man named Reid is causing me trouble since the first minute I met him.

'I'll tell you while on lunch later"

I responded and we both stepped out of the conference room as well.
