Chapter 15: Hailey Resists

Noah stared at the open door. "I'm assuming you didn't leave it that way."

She shook her head.

"We can call the cops."

"They won't come probably," she said.

Wow. If even the cops weren't going to show up in this neighborhood then Hailey didn't need to be here either. She was going to be hard to convince, but there was no way Noah was walking away. She couldn't stay here.

"How about I call them."

She frowned. "Fine, but don't expect much. They won't want to do the paperwork for something that won't be solved."

"Have you had break-ins before?" Noah asked.

Her gaze traveled to his face. "Yes, and I have nothing of value."

"What are they looking for?" Noah asked.
