At the end of my last class of the day, I went to sit on one of the benches under the big tree with a book in my hand. This book was one of my favourites. I had read it already and was now rereading it. I was occupying my time until Jasmine's final class finishes, which was in fifteen minutes. We were going to grab something to eat at the Deli down the street. Kevin and Lucas were going to meet us there. This was something we did every Friday after classes."Harry Potter huh?"I turn around from my book to the sound of the voice and saw that it was Travis. I was so caught up in the book that I didn't notice him walking up behind me."Hey, Travis." I greeted. "What's up?""Well, I saw you over here sitting and since I don't know anyone else yet, I decided to come over." He replied. "Mind if I sit down?""No, not at all." Travis walked around and sit on the bench opposite me. He took up the book that I rested on the table earlier and read the title out loud. "'Harry Potter and the Death
Carson's POV"What are you doing?" I ask Jayden, who was staring in front of him and smiling creepily for the past two minutes. My friends and I were in a bar that we regularly go to. We've been here since 5 o'clock playing pool, having drinks and simply just hanging out. I don't drink as much as I used to anymore though. I will only have one drink or sometimes two.Larry, the bartender and owner of the bar was in his forties, but he was really cool. He didn't mind selling us drinks even though we were only twenty years old. He always says that we seem like good youths, who wouldn't cause trouble. So we've been coming here ever since we came to New York."I'm trying to seduce that girl over there," Jayden replied to my earlier question, not taking his eyes from in front of him.I turn around to look at who he was referring to. We were sitting at the counter of the bar, having a beer and the girl was in the corner of the bar, sitting beside the pool table. I lifted my eyebrows in quest
I woke Saturday morning to the sound of Carson's house phone ringing. I sat up in the bed and that was when I heard the shower running.Stretching for the phone that was on the nightstand, I picked it up and put it to my ear. "Hello.""Hi, Darling! How are you doing?" I heard Marilyn's familiar voice on the other end.Instantly, a genuine smile came over my face. "Hi, Marilyn. I'm doing great. How are you?""I'm great as well. It's good to hear your voice." She said."It's always good to hear from you too," I said sincerely. After a while we started to catch up, talking about any and everything.Marilyn had become like a mother to me and I missed her so much. She would always check up on me and have that motherly love and care as if I was her daughter. I'm really grateful to her and I'm glad for the bond that we have."Where's Carson?" She asked after a while."He's in the shower," I informed her."Okay, I'll call him later." She said, then added. "Talk to you a next time. I've got to
"So, how would you tell what blood group this is?" Travis asked, looking at what I was doing intently.Travis had told me that he hasn't reached this far at his previous college and he wasn't here as yet when Mrs. Harriot had done it with us. So, he had asked me to explain it to him.I indicated the three test tubes that were placed on the table as I spoke. "In this test tube, there is an anti-A antibody, in this one, anti-B and the other is a control solution. I'm going to add the blood to each." I then tip a drop of the blood into the three test tubes. We observe each test tubes to see whether the red blood cells have agglutinated or simply settled to the bottom. Soon, we noticed that in the test tube containing the anti-A antibody, the blood has settled to the bottom. There was no reaction in the other two test tubes.I turn to Travis with a look of satisfaction. "This means that this blood type is A.""How so?" He asked."Because the red blood cells match with the A antigens." I p
Carson's POVI pocketed my phone as soon as I sent the last text to Kayla and took out my car keys. I began to twirl in the keys in my hands as I walked over to my car that was in the parking lot.As I neared my car, I noticed that someone was leaning against it with their arms crossed. I narrowed my eyes at the person as I got closer. I felt anger rise in me as I saw that the person was none other than Oliver Ross."How did you know which college I go to?" I asked in annoyance as soon as I was standing in front of him.Oliver chuckled. "I have my ways. Don't worry about that.""What do you want?" I demanded, losing my patience."You know exactly what I want, so let's cut to the chase shall we?" He asked as he removed himself from my car and stand up straight."You wasted your time because my answer is still the same," I replied."There is a fighting arena just a half-hour drive from here. That is where I fight now." Oliver went on as if I hadn't spoken. "Meet me there for one match a
"Thanks, Travis, I didn't notice that I left it," I said to Travis as I took my textbook from him.As soon as my final class for the day ended, Carson had texted me, telling me that he was in the parking lot. I left the lecture hall in a hurry, not noticing that I left my textbook. Travis caught up to me halfway across the parking lot to give it to me."No problem," Travis replied. "I'll see you on Monday. Have a good weekend.""Thanks and you too," I replied. Travis smiled at me brightly. "Okay bye." I wave at him before turning around."Bye," Travis said as I walk away from him. I scan the parking lot quickly and I notice Carson's car near the entrance. He stood outside his car waiting for me. I smiled and waved at him as I walked in the direction in which he parked his car.Since I won't be going to the cafe with my friends this week, Carson had promised that he would pick me up at school and take me with him to a bar. Well, I practically begged to go with him as I wanted to do som
Kayla's POVI looked at the necklace that Carson gave me around my neck in the mirror. It rests beside my mother's locket. It was really beautiful. I love it and I will always wear it."That's pretty." I heard Jasmine say from across the room. She was currently laying on her bed reading a book. She didn't have an early class today."Yeah, it is." I agreed. I turn from the mirror and face her. "Carson gave it to me on Friday. He bought it for me on Valentine's Day."Jasmine smiled. "That's sweet."A smile of my own appeared on my face as I rub my hand over the pendant. "Yes, it is." I agreed. Then I turned away from the mirror and took up my school bag. "I'm going to class now. See you later.""Bye," Jasmine said. I took up my phone and room key and left our room.••••••After I had my last class of the day, Jasmine and I were sitting under the trees on one of the many benches that decorated around our campus. Jasmine, who has a class in twenty minutes, was on her laptop, finishing up
Spring break finally arrived a week later and I did as planned and make the most of it. After all, it was only one week. Most students went home or went on a trip for the break, but I spent my time here. I didn't stay at the dorms though, I stayed at Carson's apartment. Luckily, I didn't have to leave Jasmine alone because she stayed with Eli.For the entire week, I either stayed in or most of the time, I hanged out with my friends and Carson. Now, it was Wednesday evening and I was currently situated in a booth at a diner with Carson beside me. Kevin had invited us and Lucas to the diner he and his girlfriend Tracy would frequently attend. Apparently, it was Karaoke Night and he wanted us to come. Jasmine wasn't here because she and Eli went on a trip today and won't be back until Friday.Kevin was currently on the small stage that they set up for karaoke, belting out the lyrics to I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys. Let me tell you, he wasn't bad. I shouldn't have been surpri
