Jonny was recovering fast. The day after the incident with Celeste he woke me with a gentle kiss, feeling my Master show such tenderness to me while I was sleeping put an instant smile on my face."Get up." He told me, "I'm taking you out for a little walk, Eve. It's a nice warm day so make sure you wear something short."While Jonny showered I searched through my wardrobe to find something extra special to make Master very happy with me - I knew he would be happy when I pulled out a sheer, thigh-kissing summer dress that was almost translucent in a good light. I laid it out on the bed and then walked naked into the bathroom.Jonny was still in the shower, steam rising and the familiar scent of his shower gel filling the room. Through the glass I could make out his perfect body, beneath the jet of water while the soap rinsed away. It would have made a perfect portrait, my beautiful Master in his shower. I wondered if he really understood that when I worshipped him I meant every word
Later on that day after a couple of hour's rest Jonny told me he was going out again, this time I was to stay home and cook the dinner while he took a look around the town and used the exercise to get rid of the last of the nagging ache that was tugging at his healing scar.He had been gone for half an hour and while I set a pan of water to cook the vegetables I kept thinking about the ache that still nagged him, although it was only mild now I could not help but feel concern. I knew he was more than capable of taking care of himself and I wasn't going to call him because I didn't want to look as if I doubted him. I was worrying because I loved him; but he was everything to me and if he wanted me to leave him be for a short while, his wish was my command. The house was filling with the smell of roasting beef from the oven and I was about to chop the vegetables. I decided to turn my attention to Master's dinner instead of worrying about him when I knew I did not need to be concerned.A
We needed to move again. After Dominic finding his way, it meant there could be others. We had a meeting with Celeste. She wouldn't look me in the eye. I thought about the cactus and laughed."There's another place not too far from here." She said, but Jonny stopped her."No," He told her, "We can't take any more chances; I've got Eve to think of. And we want a family. I can't stay round here. We need to fuck off, right off away from here."And so we did.Several months had passed since the shooting. Our new home was peaceful, quiet, and no one came after us. I totally agreed with Jonny that we had needed to leave, after all I couldn't see us raising our kids in that other place, it would hardly be something to laugh about, Kids, remember the story about the time Daddy shot an assassin in the living room? And although Jonny's people had covered his tracks well, we could never be sure that there would not be others - what Dominic had said had a chilling ring of truth to it - after the
“Eve, well be back around nine. Dont let the kids stay up too late. Alice, my sister-in-law, said from the doorway to the living room.As if her twin girls would ever listen to a thing I said. The door closed, and I turned to my twin nieces. Who wants ice cream? The two little girls, identical blonde, sweet tyrants, screamed with joy as they looked back at me with gray eyes so similar to mine. They could be mine, if I wasnt so busy all the time. I pushed the thought away and stood up from the pillow fort theyd built around me to head into the kitchen.Harry, the baby brother of the twins, slept in a playpen near the dark gray leather sofa, so I left him there. He was a growing boy, and he needed his sleep. Soon enough hed join his older sisters in the kitchen with me.I found the girls on bar stools around the marble island in the kitchen. It was the kind of kitchen any baker would love. It was Alices kitchen, after all, and she needed three industrial sized ovens. I turned to the fri
Youre a descendent of Mr. Kinky, arent you? a woman at the end of the conference table asked. My gaze flicked to the woman, and I noted round, out of date glasses, fuzzy hair, and a little too much fluff around the hips. She had a twisted little mouth that looked cruel, and I wondered who she was and how shed come to be here.I am, yes, in a way. Im adopted, but the man who became my father is descended from his son, as a matter of fact. It wasnt a point of pride, just something Id had to learn to deal with over the years. Every now and then someone would crop up to ask me if I had special knowledge about the gun slinging outlaw from long ago.I was born in 1986, so how could I know anything about a man who died over 100 years before I was born? It was a familiar question, though, and one Id grown bored with long ago.He was such a handsome man, she crooned from the other end of the table, and I tried not to roll my eyes. The man had been a murderer and a thief; his spawn had tried to
“What about these, Roxie? Theyd look great on you! I called Roxie over to me, and she stared at the colorful pair of heels Id stopped at in the boutique Id brought us to.My birthday had been and gone a week ago, and Roxie still hadnt told me if she could get me into the club she worked at. Wed spent my birthday in her apartment, watching our favorite movies and getting drunk. It had been fun, a first rebellion, and Id passed out on her couch around one a.m. Since then, wed both been busy with different things, but wed finally met up for a shopping trip that Id proposed.Shed wanted to head over to the discount shops along the boardwalk, but Id driven us to a secluded set of boutiques just outside of town. Shed been confused but hadnt protested. I liked that about Roxie; she was brave, curious, and wasnt afraid of much in the world.God, put those back, Eve; I cant afford them, Roxie whispered to me as I picked up a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. I looked up at her confused. But I
Whats your poison? the bartender asked, and I stared dully at the man. A long brown beard adorned his face, tight khaki pants clashed with the sophisticated haircut, and for some unknowable reason, suspenders over a white t-shirt with Pink Floyd emblazoned across the front. The whole look, clashed in my mind, and I stared at him. Then a word popped into my head, and I relaxed. Hipster. Beer please, thanks. He gave me a nod, passed along a beer, and I headed off in the direction of the stage. I had spent another day fruitlessly looking for land to develop. At this point, Id even take a large house that I could turn into apartments, though, small ones. I wanted to be in this place, this part of the world, to get away from my life in Kansas.I needed to be away from it all, but I wouldnt get that, not until someone else came along to take the lead from me. My own child or someone I took under my wing. I might yet find a wife, settle down, have a child, but I didnt see it coming. Not yet.
Days passed, and I hadnt heard from Roxie, but that might have been my own fault. Id been busy. I finally found a place of my own, a real house, that was all mine. It was an exclusive place with a keypad on the large steel gate that kept the huge fence around the place locked up tight. Id been busy buying furniture and a car.Ive never owned a car before, or furniture, but there was a first time for everything, right? I spent a week getting the place set up, and then, I finally talked to my family in a conference call on Skype. At first, thered been confusion. But, Eve, we love you. What is this about? Trent asked from his camera, and I glared. You love me? I shot back, my face red with anger and hurt. Or am I just convenient? Do any of you know Im a real human being?“Eve! What a thing to ask! Of course, we know youre real, Mason started, but I interrupted him. When is my birthday? I asked pointedly, looking straight into the camera on my phone. The three of them muttered across the
