“You just said you fell,” he accused, his brows furrowing.

Shit. I did just say that. I kept my eyes on the floor, too afraid to look into his caramel ones.

“I meant, I fell at training,” I replied, “You know how rough it can get.”

“Yeah, I do. Remember I used to watch you,” he replied, making my cheeks flush at the memories.

“Except, you haven’t trained in years. Why are you lying to me, Tara? What are you hiding?” he said, taking my hands in his rough, calloused ones.

I was in panic. I yanked my hands out of his, turning in my chair to face my desk, “I’m not lying.”
