Catherine is immortal. She would live forever with Silas by her side. But Gunther and Zion had a few hundred years with her before they faded away. Their goal was to use caution, so they would not put Gunther and Zion at risk. They were aware Catherine would chase after Silas and they would go with her, meaning their lives would be in danger. Especially in Faerie, because they did not know what waited on the other side of the gate. If they used silver, or Majyk, both her first and third husbands could be in trouble because of their natural disadvantage.
